SFO-LHR offered £584 at OLCI for Y to C - declined. Asked at the lounge at LHR what the upgrade cost was and they directed me to the transfer desk. The nice agent pulled up the cost and it was the same, she said that sounded too expensive and then proceeded to give me a free UG to C! Bravo UA!

OLCI offered me a Y-to-F upgrade DEN-LAX on 4/28 for $154. Declined. A quick peek while on the flight showed that the F cabin on that 757 was very sparsely populated.

Asked for, was offered, and declined $689 for NC->F on DME-IAD. (Just goes to show that you can double-upgrade...)
Reasonable IME for a 10+ hour flight, but a 1/4 full cabin with the reconfig C seats was just fine.

LHR-IAD on B fare. Was offered upgrade to Business for $392.55 (per segment) at the time of the ticket purchase (valid for 5 minutes). It then showed the "new" price of the ticket. I was wondering what fare class would then the new ticket be?
Thanks!
Thanks!

With UFC the fare class is unchanged, so still the original fare class. .

Z fares out of LHR are pretty dang cheap right now, especially when compared to a higher end economy fare. So, at purchase, your "UFC" would really have been upfaring to Z, at least that's my guess.
Randomly checking fares, there's a roundtrip Z fare LHR-IAD that runs roughly $1600.
As others have pointed out, UFC on check-in and at the gate will still show up as the originally purchased fare.

I asked the agent at the check-in counter in MUC specifically about the booking class after UFC. She said that the booking class does not change as a result of UFC.

BKK to NRT was $315 when I asked for it at check-in. What I have noticed at LHR (at least year on several ocassions) was that OLCI offered slightly higher the price offered at the airport.

$77 SFO-SAN. Declined, because:
(a) 16C is better than 757 F and
(b) I can't consume 13 six-dollar cocktails in an hour. Not and still get off the plane, anyway.

I received such an offer last year when purchasing an M fare. It was on the return leg, which I took and the booking class was Z.
