Inconsistent compensation practice
I had non-working seats and enterntaintment systems in United F and C several times and have received compensation for that as the FA / purser made anote of this and made me fill out some paper work. I have gotten 100, 175 and 200 dollar travel vouchers for this. The 200 I got for a non-working video screen and the 100 for a non-working seat. Seems that non working entertainment is more valuable than comfort. The seat was a pain as for 4 hours the seatback wouldn't stay upright.
Anybody know how compensation is calculated? Is this just up to inidividual CS reps to decide. I am just surprised by the inconsistency.

I've gotten US$200 vouchers (twice now) for my defective international F entertainment systems.

On a recent flight in C (FRA - ORD) the IFE system was down. (My seatmate had a broken seat and IFE) This was following a LH flight in B (JNB - FRA) where the overhead video was down also. UA compensated me with 5000 miles, LH with nothing. Would have prefered $$$

My compensation on all airlines has been very consistent. Broken seat - nothing. Broken IFE - nothing.

On a recent flight where C class was fully occupied, the Purser showed me a preprinted compensation fee schedule (printed on an oversized envelope and signed me up for a $200 voucher which he said I would receive.
What I eventually received was 5000 RDM, which is not equal in value.
This thread reminds me that I must complain about this compensation.

If the service UA provides you is inconsistent to the point you want compensation, don't you think it's a bit much to expect UA to be consistent with their compensation for such inconsistent service?

If you UA would be more consistent in the way they deal with inconsistency in service I would consistently be more happy if done in a consistently positive way. Serious, I had awful mechanical delays where I got treated badly and got nothing and I had a couple hours of delay for weather reasons where without my doing anything I was credited 7500 miles to my account. I just wonder how this is handled process wise at UA.

You can call it the "Terminator" fare: "Hey buddy, you got a dead cat in there?"

Paid F ticket from LAX to SYD last summer. Cabin was full.
Personal video screen completely inop. UA gave me four 500-mile domestic upgrade certificates, which will expire and I will get 2,000 miles. Whoopy!
Yep, just another example of why I am such a fan of UA these days.
