ORD-LHR (LD63-C69)
210C013-2

Flight was a very short 6hr37min. We just about left on time, and got in at around 0520. Cabin crew was completely London based. While the service for the most part was not too great, with very few smiles and some general service problems, the purser, Maria, MORE than made up for it.

Upon enetering the plane, she addressed people by last name based on the BP's.

After takeoff, she came around the C cabin by status, addressing each person by name, shaking their hand, and carrying on a short conversation. She took meal orders (no second choices for 1K's) ^ , asked whether or not we wanted breakfast, as well as Duty Free.

Funnily enough, stevenshev was telling us about the great LHR purser in the RCC today, and it turned out that it was also Maria. It seems like she it consistently good! ^

The filet was delicious, as well as the meal of a whole. Standard international fare...

Just one other note which I found interesting. While listening to Channel 9 over the Atlantic (which can often get interesting with pilot chatter), I heard a very interesting dialogue:

All aircraft were reporting info because it seemed like some did not have smooth rides.

This foreign carrier reports his ride as follows: "Position 47 degrees, Track Yankee, Moderate Chop." I could clearly understand him.

An American(not the airline, but nationality) pilot, not sure who, says "Say that again in English"

Another American pilot says "Not very nice," and then a Bristish pilot says "You mean American." OK, maybe I need to find a better hobby...

LHR-IAD/ORD (LD63-S65)
211C021-3

An EXCELLENT crew on this 8hr40min, although this time it was both ORD and LHR based. Our FA was one of the best that I have had in a long time. I chose the lasagne because I was not too hungry, and had the filet earlier. The lasagna was actually not half bad.

The pre-arrival meal was also EXCELLENT! The sandwiches were fresh, and the clotted cream with scones was delicious! If only all UA flights were like this! ^

Any clue why ORD-LHR menu is just for ORD-LHR, while LHR-ORD menu is also shared with IAD?

Any idea of the menus for:

SFO-LHR 930
LHR-LAX 935

Also, I called in and asked for a low fat meal on
one of my redeye transcons to get chicken
and not a fruit plate, it now shows meal choice
as low_fat. Does that mean it changed the whole
series or just that flight?

Menu is the same as that posted by lucky9876coins for LHR-ORD flight (post #273), except for the addition of

midflight snack

Sandwiches and assorted treats
will be available between the two main meals

BTW the featured Champagne was Pommery Brut Royal NV. Although listed, Pol Roger Brut NV was not available.

UA 903 IAD-DEN 777 Dinner 11/13

UA 903: IAD-DEN, 3 class 777 in C, 11/13

"Mature" but excellent crew.

Warm nuts
Drinks (Jack&Pepsi served mixed, with the remainder of the can and an additional bottle on the side ^ )
Green Salad
Choice of Turkey and Cheese sandwich or Pasta
Caramel Cheesecake

They ran out of pasta with my seatmate so I got the sandwich which was served open-face and was quite awful. The pasta didn't look much better.

No bubbly boarded.

The crew did an excellent job with the pacing of the meal service, despite having to sit down three times due to heavy chop and light turbulence.
November 18: Pretty much the same as October 28. Spinach and cheese omlette with hash browns and red pepper sauce or a fruit plate with yogurt.

Bread basket featured croissants, seasame seed bagels, and apple danishes.

Crew seemed very junior ... quite a surprise for the 777 IAD-DEN-IAD routes.

Catering did not board linens.

Anyone know how often they change the menu on this flight (I'm on it on the 28th). Y is oversold, so I am hoping to buy-up to C, but I am a vegetarian. I have HNML reserved, so worst case, would they just give me that stuff (sorry I know this isn't the point of the thread -- if/ when I do get into C on this flight, I'll post the menu)?

IME, it is approximately quarterly. They never completely revamp the menu, and usually just change the appetizer and an entree or two.

If it is any help, Asia flights tend to have three "meat" entrees (fish, chicken, and steak), and Europe flights tend to have two "meat" entrees and one pasta entree. Of course, this is just my experience, and may not be anywhere near accurate.

Thanks, lucky... it is good information (and seems to accord with the previously-posted menu), but no help to me, unfortunately. The seat is more important than the meals I guess (since I am headed straight to work from this flight!)... . I guess I'll just ask them to bring my hindu meals from the back of the plane, which were tasty enough (incidentally, they were marked Y/C -- does that mean that this is what I would have had in C anyway?)
