Edit: OK, award tix that you can get through a promo aren't necessarily "guaranteed" either (due to capacity controls and expiration dates), but there is still a distinction to be made.

Moved expiring promotions from "Current" to "Recent".
Also, in the past couple of weeks there have been some hotel program tie-in promotions (*wood and Marriott, IIRC). As the promotions seemed to be targeted to elites in those programs rather than MP, I figured the more "natural" home for them would be their respective hotel program fora. Thus, I have decided not to include them in this thread (in case anyone was wondering).

MPD984 and MPD994
Are the referral mileage promotions MPD984 and MPD994 offering 1,250 miles for each new referral, regardless if they complete any flight activity or not? So if I enroll 8 new people (4 max per promotion), is this 10,000 free miles? I just needed to double check, however, reading the fine print on this promotion, I didn't see it state flight activity is required, just simply the enrollment. It does make mention of additional bonuses if flight activity exists, but I'm simply looking at the referral bonus at this time.

For targeted promotions, the conventional wisdom on the board seems to be that if you were not targeted, you will not receive the promotion benefits, even if the system accepts your registration or a CSR "manually" registers you for the promotion. - Combinability:
Non-combinable offers are combinable with other combinable offers.
Non-combinable offers are not combinable with other non-combinable offers.
In the event that qualifying activity is applicable to two non-combinable offers, you will receive the benefits of the first offer for which you registered. - Registration:
If you are having trouble registering for a promotion and use antivirus software, disable it temporarily and re-attempt your registration.

quick answer: No
You get miles of you credit card if you pay for her ticket but whoever's butt is in the seat gets the miles for the trip. There are other discussion in the forum if you need more information.
