DEN-MSO same flight # both ways
I was looking up flights for a summer wedding and was surprised to see the same flight numbers in each direction and obviously the same aircraft doing a turn. - is this common. I know about UA using the same flight # for a domestic/int'l trip with a different gauge. Maybe just a Skywest SNAFU

There's one into SJC as well. Not uncommon.

Delta does this too with Comair (and not just recently - this was over 2 years ago).

The one into SJC is UA 6504. On that flight every week makes it easy to lookup how long I have in the B terminal before I start walking to A as I can see when the plane will land on incoming

PNo big deal, except it trips up the online segment request system in the event your credit doesn't post. I once flew IAD-IND, and same-numbered IND-IAD 30 minutes later (just dropping off Master PVDProf), and didn't get credit for the return. Had to call to explain and get credit, since the online system was pretty sure I'd already been credited for UA7666 that day.
