1K cleared Hub-Hub (LAX-SFO) 6PM to Midnight (8PM flight)

Both cleared 4 hours before departure on an A319. We were on a L fare.
I'm reluctant to even include this, because it was a Saturday flight on a low-competition route. But it does suggest that the chart might be better broken down by routes that are known to be high/low competition, and/or by aircraft that are known to be competitive or not.

Called in the morning to be put on upgrade list manually. At the gate monitor 4 names on the list with 2 avail seats in First. My name not on the list. 30 min from boarding asked the GA for status and she said I wasnt on the list. She put my name on and checked the monitor and now I was #2 on the list of 5 people with 2 available seats. Sorry to whoever I pushed down. Got my upgrade!!!

I have some very mixed emotions on what i witnessed last night at ord, i was ug to C on ua253, and was one of the last to board and when i got on board i noticed that a gate agent was in the process of downgrading 2 passengers to E which i notice later was 17HJ, from what i hear in the conversation between the agent and the 2 downgraded passengers was that 2 passengers from a intl flight had missed the earlier den flight and i assume had C or dom F seats to denver and since these 2 passengers were comped and a premier that they had to go back to E, i realize ual has to protect the revenue but this could turn out to be a pr mess imho, i can only hope they did it based on status and fare code,and the 2 that were waiting on the jetway actually were fare paying (c,j,z or d) tickets.

After reading that there may be a glitch in the system if you requested an upgrade before UDU, I called GS. Indeed there is a minor glitch.
