I like salmon. But United's salmon (or any fish) is disgusting. But if you arent used to good/fresh Pacific Northwest (Copper River/Kenai River) salmon, I suppose you might like it. I've never been sicker after having a salmon salad on UA from ORD-DCA. It wasnt properly cooked and even after three days wasnt able to hold down soup. Things just have to be handled, transported, refrigerated, packaged, too many times to get good fish on an airline.

Given allergies to shellfish and religious prohibitions, shrimp and prosciutto are likely problematic. Salmon may not be a more popular option, but it's "safer". That being said, count me in as someone who does not like the salmon appetizer.

I have never seen 3* or 4* hotels would serve shrimp or proscuitto instead of salmon for their continental breakfast either.

I agree with NeoOfThe CRS regarding fresh salmon -- but my fresh salmon is caught on the river and cooked within an hour on a stove riverside. (Yes, I know propane stoves and wood/matches are not allowed in carryon)
The smoked salmon isn't that bad but some of the salmon on the salads have been borderline.

Salmon is fairly healthy, and a lot of people like it, myself included... though personally, I can't stand farm-raised salmon unless it's smoked. Wild caught all the way for me, which means I'll be avoiding salmon on UA most likely (I bet it is indeed farm-raised).

And another Hokie votes for salmon
I prefer the salmon - although I do like shrimp as well.

If you haven't already got the message from others...
Why, Why, Why does United insist on serving shrimp or prosciuotto appetizers? It is such a waste as I won't touch the stuff.
I would so rather have some salmon or smoked salmon.

I'd be happy with a larger plate containing some of all three.
