This is an archive thread, the active thread is Singapore Airlines (SQ) award booking experiences using United miles

SQ awards can be booked online but SQ generally does does not release to its *A partners all routes or all cabins -- especially the more premium cases

Singapore Airlines and United have agreed to remove Singapore Airlines inventory from our award flight search results on united.com and on the United Mobile App. This will take effect starting tomorrow, December 13, You will still to be able to book and change award reservations involving Singapore Airlines by calling our reservations lines.

Please let me know if you have any clarifying questions, and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Singapore Airlines (SQ) award booking experiences using United miles {Archive}

I see availability on a SQ flight from FRA-JFK using the ANA tool. But the same flight does not show up using United's award search tool. Does this mean the flight can't be booked with UA miles? Thanks.

If you can find availability using one of the tools and can't book it on UA's website, call in to book.

Pretty sure SQ blocks their partners (including UA mileageplus) from booking Biz/First/Suites class awards on their international routes using their longhual equipment. Only exceptions is SQ allows J awards on their regional intra-asia flights with the regional Biz seats.

I'm looking for an economy seat. Do they block those from UA flyers?

Called an agent but she couldn't find any available seats for redemption, while ANA shows availability. Has anyone experienced this? I'm looking at FRA-JFK on SQ26 on January 4, 14.

I have looked for award availabilty for SQ26/25 for a long time. While I've found FRA-SIN numerous times, never have I been able to find FRA-JFK. I wouldn't be surprised if UA blocked this flight, seeing that you are able to find it on ANA but not thru MP.

Thanks. Does this mean UA should have access to these seats? IIRC, UA is blocked from SQ C/F class seats, but I don't recall Y seats being blocked. Correct?

Didn't UA claim that it no longer does Starnet blocking about a year or so ago?

I think so but I would not be surprised if there was not some kind of blocking still in place!

I called the agent and asked them to do a "long sell", as suggested by KVS FAQ page. That didn't work. The agent tried looking up for seats under the internet and the internal system, and neither showed availability. I felt scammed

actually you can book J awards with LH M&M miles on SQ's longhaul routes with their new Biz class.

Correct on both counts.

If the Agent tried looking for Availability, then they were not doing a Long-Sell.

You may wish to try calling back and asking for a supervisor.

You can also book regional flights in F as well. I flew MNL-SIN yesterday in XF on a 773 with suites in F using UA miles.

Somehow the contents of a whole bottle of Dom disappeared during the flight . . .
