Thanks. Does this mean UA should have access to these seats? IIRC, UA is blocked from SQ C/F class seats, but I don't recall Y seats being blocked. Correct?
Correct on both counts.
I called the agent and asked them to do a "long sell", as suggested by KVS FAQ page. That didn't work. The agent tried looking up for seats under the internet and the internal system, and neither showed availability.
If the Agent tried
looking for Availability, then they were
not doing a Long-Sell.
I felt scammed
You may wish to try calling back and asking for a supervisor.
