I was simply responding to a blanket statement upthread that 'O,A,R outranks Y,B,M' Sorry if this somehow hit a nerve - not quite sure what it would have

Doppy Jun 4, 2021 12:50 pm

Since 1Ks on Y/B/M fares clear into PN, doesn't that mean that a 1K on Y/B/M would be ahead of a 1K on O/A/R, similar to how GS on S fares are ahead of 1Ks on O?

No.

1Ks on PlusPoints clear into PZ regardless of the fare. The rule you're thinking of only applies to Instant Upgrades, which are only applicable on CPU-eligible routes, and require that you don't apply an instrument.

Are there CPU routes (Instant Upgrades) with PremuimPlus being marketed?

My booking flow is usually: book on my account when there's PN/PZ space. If there's PZ space, apply pluspoints from my mom's 1k account. If there's PN space, apply pluspoints from my dad's LT GS account.

However, I messed up this time and carelessly booked the wrong flight on my phone at dinner. My return flight had PN space with an upgrade that cleared. However, the departing flight with PZ space is actually for the next day so my upgrade is currently waitlisted. Both flights are on the same itinerary.

Is there a way I can change my departing flight to the next day where there's PZ space without messing up my cleared upgrade on the return flight? I also don't see an option to cancel the departing pluspoint waitlisted upgrade because it does not show up on my mom's PlusPoints tab on her account.

Take-home lesson: stay off electronics while having dinner with dad (GS) and mom (1K). 😂

Rip, unfortunately was having dinner with someone in town for only a few nights.Wanted to book a spontaneous trip to Switzerland to meet up with some people I haven’t seen since 2019 lol

I don’t care about losing 1K PlusPoints but losing the GS PlusPoints would really suck. Tempted to just book that economy flight one way and upgrade it with the 1K PlusPoints but I’ll probably be hit with a no show penalty? Not sure how this situation would play out.

A good agent can take care of that for you. Or, if there is still PN space, you could just cancel and restart the process from scratch.

The no-show penalty would be much more severe than you think: UA might detect this as a duplicate booking, in which case they'll either call you, or just cancel one or the other on their own before you travel. That's if you get lucky. If you get unlucky, when you're marked as a no-show on the outbound, your return flight is cancelled too. (TL;DR: Don't try this).

Thanks. If I cancel, will I lose the PlusPoints? I’m confused by the terms that state that you cannot cancel a confirmed PlusPoint booking. Currently I have GS PlusPoints confirmed on 1 booking and 1K PlusPoints waitlisted on another (but I can’t even seem to cancel the waitlisted PlusPoints).

Should I just try to call United and see if they can do it for me?

Only if it was Skip Waitlist inventory -- which, if PN/PZ was available, it wasn't. Even then, I suspect you might be able to get the GS desk to refund them in this particular circumstance.

When you don't use Skip Waitlist, you can't cancel an existing, confirmed PlusPoints upgrade without also cancelling your ticket (because they don't want people to reserve space in the cabin and then remove the upgrade, trying to get a CPU / op-up), but if you cancel your ticket, the PlusPoints will be refunded. (Keep an eye on them; you might need to write in or call).

I’ve cancelled many intl rez with PP applied. No problem at all as long as not Skip the Waitlist.

WasKnown Jul 21, 2021 11:52 pm

It’s impossible for mine to be skip the waitlist right? Because I booked it using my parent’s PlusPoints and they are not on my itinerary.

Sorry for the super basic qs.

If it was 40 PlusPoints, then not STW, But if it was 100 PlusPoints, then it was.
