225,000 [maximum] ÷ 1.85 [85% bonus] = 121,621.621 [maximum base mile purchase]

120,000 x 1.85 [85% bonus] = 222,000 miles purchased.

121,000 x 1.85 [85% bonus] = 223,850 miles purchased.

Miles cost $35/1,000 miles

https://buymiles.mileageplus.com/uni..._landing_page/

Maximum purchase = 121,000 x $35/1,000 = $4,235 for 223,850 miles @ 1.891¢/mile

¡What a deal!

Did you include the Fed Tax 7.5% tax that is charged in addition.
And in the other direction, using a Chase MP credit card you might be earning 2, 1.5 or 1 miles per purchase $1

Adding these two , you are close to 2 cpm.

BuyMiles 100% bonus

I got an email from United which contained the following advisement:

We have removed some redeposit fees for the rest of the year.

• We are currently waiving all award redeposit fees for travel through end of May 2020. • We are now also waiving all redeposit fees for award ticket cancellations made more than 30 days before departure for the remainder of 2020.

Which prompted me to check buymiles.com to see what the current bonus offer is. The 100% bonus currently being offered puts the net price at about 1.84 cents per mile (including tax) if you use a 2% cash back credit card. And the max miles you can buy is the usual limit of 175,000.

For me to even consider biting it would take a 1 cpm net price, which would be a 275% bonus on buymiles. And if United is really scrambling for cash they should consider raising the miles purchase limit.

They could offer 200% bonus and I still would not take it. If any of the major airlines fold, I would UA high on the probable list.

It seems there is a different promotion run by United between April 14 and April 24 in regard to buying miles. Compared to what is reported in this and the older thread it is very lame .

I (Premier Silver) got
buy 3,000 Miles – 19,000 Miles and get 30% bonus
buy 20,000 Miles – 29,000 MIles and get 50% bonus
buy 30,000 Miles – 102,000 Miles and get 70% bonus

Not sure if those with a higher statues got a different bonus
