I got a similar but very different offer.

Valid til March 14

Buy 5,000-9,000 miles | get 20% +5% bonus
Buy 10,000-29,000 miles | get 45% +5% bonus
Buy 30,000-85,000 miles | get 70% +5% bonus

Examples given

Buy 85,000 miles for $2,975.00 and get bonus 63,750 miles
Buy 5,000 miles for $175.00 and get bonus 1,250 miles

I notice that both offers top level come right in at .02 a mile. The 40% is a bit higher but still very close.

Thanks for that. I didn't get an email, but the website lists similar promotion, once logged in:
https://buymiles.mileageplus.com/united/index_en.html

It's $20/1000 miles, if buying 30000+ (the promotion I see is they add an extra 75% more miles after 30000+); with fees it comes to $21.50/1000.

It's still higher than what they offered up until recently when booking flights, and going into "Manage Reservations", which used to run at $19/1000, but is now $21/1000 miles.

I just received an e-mail with the following offer :

Buy 5,000 - 9,000 miles | Get 25% bonus
Buy 10,000 - 29,000 miles | Get 50% bonus
Buy 30,000 - 85,000 miles | Get 75% bonus

I did a test - for 140,000 miles (80,000 + 60,000 bonus), it will cost $2800.00 This equals $0.02/mile. Not sure if it is a good deal. I have got two weeks to decide.

With fees it's $3,010.00 USD, or $21.5/1000 or $0.0215/mile.

It's possible to buy miles (not 140'000 mind you) when booking a flight or when checking in for $19/1000, although they are currently charging $21/1000.

Is the current deal (until March 14th) good? or will there be better by June?

I guess I'm used to Jos A Bank, where they have a sale every week - and unless you pay attention you don't know which ones are the REALLY good sales.

So I'm going to need to top up my account with about 100k miles for a couple of international business awards I'm buying, and right now the deal for me is:

56000+42000 (Bonus) for $1960 - $.02 per mile.

From reading around it seems like this is a pretty good rate. But - I don't need the miles until June - should I buy? or risk that there will be a better offer?

Purchase miles: I'm offered +50%, she's offered 75%

Just got UA's email offering miles purchase. We're both Gold, travel together and indeed have both been Gold for about 10 years. My offer is for 50% points bonus, Mrs og's offer is for 75% bonus. What's the logic behind this? Or do I fail to understand "the new UA"?

Perhaps to check what promo level is more likely to give the return they want?
This is not a reward or bonus - just slightly different pricing points they test..

A/B testing? Maybe they're trying to figure out the right price point.

So 75% bonus is still not worth buying miles? Is this because of diminishing availability for *A awards. 2 cents a miles seems could redemption for international business class, but not if the seats are not available.
