GS already walk on water so entering a popup lounge should be a piece of cake. Or pie. Or is it a slice of pie and a piece of cake?

Yes, but can they do it without getting their feet wet? He said, thinking back to the days when he had to write officer effectiveness reports...

Umm... I don't think the word "opened" means what you think it means. Did you actually read the thread?

One "opens" in early Sept, one late Sept and the rest TBD'ish. I'm not sure that explicitly qualifies as "just opened" at this point in time.

Regards

You're right, I should have said "announced re-opening". I saw a headline, not the thread. The most dire need is to re-open EWR Polaris, Specifically because that is my home airport.

I can confirm BOS is open. Went through o the morning of August 19th. About a third full. Better selection of food than in the before times (sandwich wrap bites, pasta salad, green salad, hummus vegetables and pita.....), Decent service

Absolutely right, I haven't seen half of the UC agents I've come to know over the last ~17 years since the pandemic buy-outs. That's also true of the ORD-based Global Services lounge staff. That staff turnover (and subsequent scramble to re-staff) has been at the root of most of my sub-par customer service experience in lounges and at GS reception. It's pretty basic.

Staff in PHX say they don't expect to see the lounge open until next spring/summer. Construction on the interior space is mostly finished, but not fitted out to United Club standard, nor is it furnished. Looks to be larger than the old club at T2 but not at all a big lounge.

DCA is still closed and with time running out in August I suspect this will also be a September opening, but no official confirmation.

Anyone know if *A J passengers are also getting Polaris premium wine tokens at UA clubs? Flying LH IAH-FRA in J. In the beforetimes, LH J got Polaris lounge access... But I see one report up-thread at ORD that LH J does not get the tokens...

Based on my experience last week at two UC at ORD - no. You need to fly Polaris on UA to get premium drinks.

My other pet peeve is that flying *A (J, F) doesn't get you access to UC when connecting in the US on your return journey to the US. You do get access though flying out of the US.

*A lounge rules calls for "As an International Business Class Customer you have access to any Star Alliance member carrier’s owned Business Class lounge at the airport where your flight departs,", UC access has long qualified for that.

Premium lounges like PL are not required, however UA advertised PL as past of their Polaris "experience". Other *A carriers (AC, SQ, LH, ...) similarly limit premium lounges access, so it was a plus UC provided access but not required for *A carriers.

As noted above, in the *A system lounges are generally considered departure lounges and your access depends on your departure status. Once again UA provides expanded access for UA long haul customers.
