Why did somebody in UA catering decide that the buffalo mac should have bread crumbs on top? Is that a Chicago thing?

Not sure why I bother with the pics. Kale pastry (described as “quiche” on today’s flight by an FA with a distinct and delightful Maine accent) or protein plate (snapped pic from across the aisle). The Maine FA was great — attentive and pleasant. The protein plate looked pretty meh. Biscuit was hot and flakey but I only ate half. Surprised they still have watermelon in January (bulk order?) but it was tasty.

Did they put the tray down that way (upside-down) or did you spin it around for some reason?

MEX-ORD
UA474 (afternoon flight) Lunch Entree choices described as “beef with vegetables” and “chicken with rice.” The beef was good although there was only one vegetable: carrots, along with some fingerling type potatoes. The sauce was sort of BBQ style—not bad. I think I’ve seen this dessert described here before as either tiramisu or mocha cake. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d5c1ac24b.jpeg |

UA719 IAD-LAX dinner flight. 787-10, first class.
Choice of grilled chicken or paneer. I had the chicken, which came with string beans, grits, sweet potato compote, a pretzel roll, and a cabbage salad. Dessert was a chocolate chip ice cream sundae. Everything was excellent. They also brought the bottles of wine through for passengers to choose from. |

that cabbage salad has far too many green onions in in it, IMO.
Post 21 in this thread has a photo of it. |

Post 21 in this thread has a photo of it. I wonder if United has gone all-in on soy bean futures again. |

Peas or edamame (soy beans)? Post 21 has edamame.

PDB offered. FAs offered detailed descriptions of the two choices (Tandoori chicken or large Asian salad with chicken). Same choices as on this same flight 3 weeks ago (see post 4 above) but salad and dessert were different. Despite all of the legit griping about UA catering, this is a pretty substantive lunch (and the pretzel roll was hot). Excellent, attentive crew the whole flight. And we arrived 30 mins early.

30 January 2020: UA 723 BWI-LAX - Breakfast
Purser bounced around by status (I assume) - was the second person he came to - when taking orders. 3 options offered to this 1K. Forget what the cold one was but the two hots were the quiche and french toast brioche. Went with the quiche: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9cb282a217.jpg (and the tomato juice is a head nod to Aussienarelle and our common effort to insure that tomato juice is stocked on UA flights ('tho why they insist on putting ice in the glass is beyond me...)) Another benefit of flying cross country but not on t.p.s./p.t.s. is ye chocolate chip cookie: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...215193a9c0.jpg David |
