Can someone confirm why I assume weather. Back in the air to ORD.
Yep, flight status quotes weather. Landed 6:44 actual, vs. 3:05 scheduled.

UA58 SFO-FRA got the trifecta today - mx requiring equipment swap, then uniforms came on to remove a drunk and disorderly Y pax, then the crew timed out. If it was not a tarmac delay violation (4 hours) it was very close. Currently en route, delayed 5:55.

I've been following UA 58 departures for a few weeks now, as I have a 90 minute connection to LH in FRA off of that trip later this month. Now I truly regret the 90 minutes. This flight has been on time or early exactly once in the past 20 days. Typical delay is 40-50 minutes. Every reason under the sun is quoted, including "gate availability" and "bag screening system" multiple times, and for some variety, "time to load luggage", "time to board", everything except "plague of locusts". And the next LH trip to my destination if I miss is 36 hours later. Rookie mistake -- I normally check the alternatives for missing prior to booking.

And then after about 2 hours on the ground goes back to SFO. My guess would be Mech but I could be wrong. SFO-NRT canceled.

Sounds more like crew going illegal to continue all the way to NRT, so flight proceeded down the coast to SFO to end there.

Delay reason for 882 (the return) was quoted as mech..... my guess is that they couldn't go ETOPs and so hugged the coast.

UA 85 TLV-EWR cancelled today due to maintenance (a tire issue apparently). A friend of mine was on board for 4 hours before the cancellation. I assume she’s entitled to some compensation but not sure what. Hopefully she gets out soon.
