Might have to do with staff available at 3-4am to deal with hundreds of passengers, Brussels being an hour later might of have been the better option

Looks like it took off from BRU about 80 minutes ago on way to EWR.

BTW, UA91 is TLV-EWR.

"ILL PASSENGER"

Passenger looked at tired, old Polaris menu, became violently ill, and requested a divert to BRU for a DECENT meal.

Why were they on the ground in BRU for 8 hours? Crew rest?

Weird indeed

Perhaps due to the extra hours of stop, the crew were out of hours to get to EWR

If it was due to a medical emergency why did they fly all the way from Manchester to Brussels?!

It may have been just as close in terms of time to get to BRU given that they were at cruising altitude when the divert happened.

Two possible reasons for BRU:
1. They would have had to jettison fuel and circle to land at LHR so they burned it off and kept flying to BRU;
2. BRU is at least a *A hub and has a lot more rebooking options on SN or other UA flights if that's what it came to.

The crew almost definitely timed out which is why they had an 8 hour layover.

Last night's (9/18) UA 923 LAX-LHR left almost 8 hours late due to MX initially followed by a crew timeout. Consequently today's UA 4 LHR-IAH has been cancelled.

Yesterday's flight UA871 SFO-TPE departed 5h58m late due to a "technical issue on your plane". Today's flight, which I am taking, already shows a 55m delay, "waiting for a gate to become available". Is there a shortage of gates at SFO?

Is this flight ever on time? I notice a 2h delay 9/17.

Noticed that UA951 BRU-IAD on 19 Sep was cancelled with reason stated as "crew scheduling disruptions, impacted by a medical diversion yesterday from Tel Aviv". Appears they took the crew from UA951 to operate the diverted UA91 TLV-EWR flight. UA951 was scheduled to depart at 12:00p, and UA91 departed BRU at 12:37p.

UAL900, a 77W, just flew over my house. This is supposed to be a LHR > SFO flight, but it looks like it landed at PDX instead, and is now continuing on to SFO.

How do I figure out why?

I would point out that LHR is closed until 6 AM at least in terms of Customs and Immigration. So, if they thought they were going to need to let (many) people off the plane, landing at LHR at 4 AM and making people sit on the plane for 2 hours would be cruel.
