Colorado-based New Belgium Voodoo Ranger IPA takes off September 1

CHICAGO, June 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- United is adding something new for every taste with several new in-flight menu items available for purchase. Starting July 1, customers can experience a slice of Chicago with personal-size Uno's deep-dish pizza, and United will expand its onboard beer list to include New Belgium Voodoo Ranger IPA beginning September 1.

United customers will also have more Choice Menu options from which to choose, including Bistro on Board items like the breakfast egg white flatbread; Uno's deep dish spinach, cheese and garlic pizza; Thai-style Chicken Ciabatta sandwich; and the new, Mediterranean-inspired Protein Box, featuring a healthy mix of almonds, sesame sticks, roasted red pepper hummus and cracked wheat salad.

United has also refreshed some of its popular Snack Shop items, including the Tapas Box, a customer favorite. The updated Tapas Box includes flatbread crackers, almonds, bruschetta, cheese spread, hummus, olive crackers, dried fruit, ginger mints and a sea salt dark chocolate caramel.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to putting our customers at the center of everything we do, we are always listening to their feedback when it comes to food choices on board our flights," said Jimmy Samartzis, United's vice president of Catering Operations. "Our customers told us they are craving pizza, and we heard them. We are excited to offer two new options – a breakfast egg white flatbread served on morning flights and deep dish pizza from hometown favorite Uno's on afternoon and evening flights."

All new menu items and refreshed snackboxes will be available for purchase on flights within the U.S. with a scheduled flight time of more than 3.5 hours and on all international flights from the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Hoppy doesn't have to be bitter! But that type of beer is more fragile than anything I'd trust catering to supply.

As someone less obsessed with hops, I'm quite happy to see both the Blue Point toasted lager and Sam Adams Oktoberfest this fall. Especially on a plane I'm not going to split hairs, and they are both quite a bit more enjoyable than last season when we had the Goose 312, IPAs, and... Miller Lite??

I guess what I mean is that IPA fans have had it good for a while (12th of Never debuted earlier this year) so it's nice to see other kinds of beer getting some love.

When they serve Guinness on board, I'll be happy then. Right now, the "hoppier the better" brewing mentality is a bit over the top.

So apparently there was a new cheeseburger launched today for purchase. Has anyone tried it? Just going on pictures, the previous version looks more appetizing/filling, but I'll definitely give this one a try.

I didn’t realize they were messing with it. Bet it’s a downgrade. Probably will be in economy tomorrow - will take a pic if it’s changed.

Old 1K burger certainly felt too good to be true... hope they didn't mess it up.

I won't get it on my LAX-IAH-TPA sequence today but here's what's showing up on the Bistro on Board page.

That is *NOT* a burger bun. Already a miserable failure in my eyes

PS - had an opportunity to try the Uno's pizza on IAH-LAX last week (#1 on upgrade list as GS, remained there as not one person was upgraded on that flight). It was edible but doesn't look anything like the photo. And clearly the FAs stored the pizza on its side because everything had been moved to one side of the 'bowl'.

Interesting that now the chips are an extra price with the burger.

It needs to be explained to someone at UA that 'fancy' versions of basic food do not work on airplanes.

It comes like that from catering at certain stations, IAH being one (and IAD being another).

Please, write it in.

Anywho, I didn't get (non-marketing) pictures of it unwrapped, but I certainly enjoyed the new burger -- the old ones were getting greasier each time, it seemed. Not a fan of losing the chips, though. The new condiment box that comes with is cardboard instead of plastic (^), and the mustard and mayo packets appear to be bigger (but it's still the normal sized Heinz ketchup, which is not nearly enough, imo)

Also new in November and not yet mentioned in the thread is the sourdough breakfast sandwich, and the southwest style omelette (served in same bowl as the pizza).

Edit: there was a change to the cheese plate, too. It came in a cardboard box but I didn't get a chance to open it up.

I didn't really care for the new burger, the bun is a huge downgrade from the previous version's and no chips is a bummer as well.

I may be misremembering, but isn't the new burger "cheaper" since they essentially made the chips ala carte? It is sad that they got rid of the old brand of chips though, the fry-chips or whatever they were called were great.

Former burger (the pretzel bun version) was $11.99 IIRC.

The former coach burger has migrated to the front cabin. I had it for lunch YVR-ORD yesterday. The fry chips are gone, however. Do I detect a pattern: coach bob food becomes the first class meal, and cheaper versions of the old coach menu are now sold as bob in back?
