I tend to agree (especially with 60J on what seems to be a leisure route), although UA is very tight-fisted about I space on the route. And then again they must have had some reason to upgauge to 77W..

I've got a few RPUs applied on p.s. and I was wondering what odds would be like, I suspect pretty bad on #1 considering P0?

1. SFO-EWR, UA1262, FRI 10 NOV, 0050/0915 solo passenger, no status, RPU applied, L fare, 757 with 28J seats:
J8 C8 D6 Z3 P0 Y9 B9 M9 E9 U9 H7 Q0 V0 W0 S0 T0 L0 K0 G0 N9

2. SFO-EWR, UA1799, FRI 10 NOV, 2115/0537+1, solo passenger, 1k, RPU, K fare, 757 with 16J seats:
J9 C9 D9 Z9 P5 Y9 B9 M9 E9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T8 L4 K2 G0 N9

3. EWR-SFO, UA1483, SUN 12 NOV, 0600/0926, 2 pax (1k + general member), one booking, 2xRPUs, K-fare, 757 with 28J seats:

Unfortunately, I think number 2 is the only one with even a prayer. The first is a peak time flight, J8 with 1.5 business weeks left to book. The third might have some chance, but down to J8 already on a 28J plane is a horrible signal.

Thanks for the input! I have to say I was surprised by the low number of J open on the 3rd one, I didn't think so many people would be keen on a 6am Sunday flight to the west coast :|

I'll let you guys know if any end up clearing!

I just flew the 1483 EWR-SFO this past Saturday, and I was planning to update with my results anyway.

2 pax, no status, miles upgrade on S fare, we ended up # 3 and 4 on the upgrade list out of 7, with 8 unbooked seats at T-24. There had been no R space for months leading up to the flight.

Well.... I cleared! And my SO would have, he had moved up to #1 on the list with J3, but we had a very unfortunate last minute equipment change. The 28J cabin was downgraded to the other 757 with only a 16J cabin. I'm not surprised that it happened, as the "Where is this plane coming from" link hadn't been updated for 24+ hours, so clearly something was wrong with the plane as it had stopped flying.

I wasn't too upset, since the hope of an upgrade was slim for me anyway, and the goodwill gesture of miles + instrument refund satisfied me. However, I felt REALLY bad for paid J tickets who were bumped back to coach, and had to stand in line at the gate at 5:30am trying to get seat reassignments and compensation sorted out.

I had to admit that the United agents handled things pretty well. I just went EWR-SFO-OGG and back, and every employee I met in person was great. My problems so far have been with the horrible, horrible call center agents, but that's a whole other post.

This is good to hear because I'm thinking of a quick trip. Is AKL-SFO better than AKL-LAX? What about the reverse? And any days of the week in either direction that are best for GPUs? THANK YOU!

UA doesn't fly AKL-LAX. Monday through Wednesday outbounds have historically been much better for upgrades. Tuesday is probably the peak in both directions.

EWR-NRT chances?

I'm about a month out from EWR-NRT, booked in beginning of August. No status with UA. Opinion on my upgrade chances? Current fares available J9JN9C9D1Z0ZN0P0PN0R0

Thanks

Matt

Thank you, @findark. I've been playing with various options so much that I forgot LAX-AKL wasn't an option. Appreciate the input.

Very low. You might want to buy up to that last D class fare.

Thanks. I do have a space available upgrade cert as a plan B but didn't want to burn it. I am presuming those have higher priority day of?

Trying to book TPA-LHR on Sat Dec 2nd or Sun Dec 3rd and looking to upgrade - either GPU or Miles & Copay. I'm 1K.

I've got a flight that lists:
J9
JN9
C9
D9
Z9
ZN9
P1
PN0
R0
RN0

What are my chances? Best bet to try GPU or Miles & Copay?

I've upgraded before and know about R, but sadly can't find anything.

What should I be looking at?

The overwater segment only (XXX-LHR). TPA-XXX will negate the inventory results.

Thank you Kacee! Yeah, those number are for the IAD-LHR leg, should I just search XXX-LHR?
