Happened all the time on the old site, especially with connecting itineraries.

Honestly I never found a better price on google flights before the new website for my itineraries - now it's almost every flight....

I am using the new website for the first time. I need to change a flight, I have a myriad of options to go through to best suit my customer's needs. Nutshell I have at the moment BOS/SBA 11/22. I need to change to BOS/BWI 11/22 and then BWI/SBA 11/24. That would be ideal. Or just BOS/SBA to 11/24, and I'll fill in the blanks. Problem is, no matter what I do, I get an error on the website, I think I narrowed it down to "make any change and you get an error". Has anyone else seen this problem? I'm not real hot o calling in and gong through 20 possible changes with someone on the phone.

Searching for a one way flight, when I click on details I do not seem to get all the fare classes. Did something change again and are they not displaying it?

I routinely found cheaper flights on Google and Kayak than I could find on the old site.

Also ITA Matrix. There are lots of routings that UA never showed us on the old site. While I don't like the new site at all, the old site was very far from my definition of perfect.

Today my SOP is to use Google Flights and also ITA Matrix.

Just tried searching for award hawaii interisland flights on United's new website and seems to not work at all. This sucks, used to be many options daily on bunch of flights through Hawaiian airlines at 6k United miles.

I take it back, it seems only flights between Honolulu and Maui (Kahului) show up on any date for award inventory but not at all for any of the other islands, Kauai or Big Island.

I'm almost 100% certain the award inventory exists and the old website would have retrieved it. Any workarounds to suggest?, besides having to call United and their stupid long hold times.

As I've said before, I like the new site. I spent most of this morning looking at potential flights and routings, and I really like the way I can see the lowest Y fare, the miles and money upgrade fare, and the cheapest F/BF fare all at the same time.

I think you have a point that if you are looking strictly for cheapest domestic economy, and maybe comparing it to the domestic first price, then the new website works just fine, probably better than the old one. On the other hand, if you are looking for complex international itineraries, mix of business and economy, and looking for R upgrade space, it does not work as well as the old one. I use matrix ita and orbitz now, and then use the tampermonkey add-on to look for R space.

Someone mentioned Southwest, but they truly price each flight separately. But it is clear the UA website just assigns a number to a given flight based on what they want to charge you for the whole specific itinerary. Which is why it may quote you $2000 for a one hour connecting economy flight from CDG to Zurich.

Can't select E+ at booking

Good day,

I'm trying to book PIT-CPH for next week. On the old site, as a Gold, I could select E+ seats while booking. This is the first time for me booking flights that have E+ on the new website, and even though it says "United Economy Plus Available", I cannot select those seats.

Is this new? Do I have to make the reservation and then just move my seats to E+?

Very infrequently with the new website I find that it doesn't pick up my MileagePlus number when I select myself as the passenger. I usually just log out, log back in, and start the reservation again.

I had an issue picking E+ seats on a flight from SGN-EWR (layover in HKG). UA markets this flight as a "direct" flight which means while there is a connection, the flight number doesn't change. This throws SHARES for a loop (like most things) when picking seats, especially since the aircraft type switches (737 to 747 for me). I don't know if this case applies to your trip though. I had to call UA get them to split the segments so now my PNR shows SGN-HKG and HKG-EWR (Instead of SGN-EWR) and it worked fine.

If logging out, then back in doesn't work when booking, might want to call UA and they can book your seats right away. Then you can ask them if they have an idea as to why it didn't work for you.

Since the demise of the old website I have had the new united.com quote me a fare $400 more than the same flights on expedia so I bought the ticket from expedia.com. The next trip, united.com could not come up with the prices I saw on matrix.itasoftware.com and expedia and orbitz either, but American was significantly less expensive anyhow, so I bought my ticket from aa.com and flew AA. I think I'll just do that for the rest of the year since I have my PQD and PQM for 1K already. Maybe they will fix some things before I start booking trips for next year and I'll see how I like AA in the interim.

By the way, I reported my issues to 1kvoice including screen shots of the price quoted by united.com and expedia for the same itinerary and got this non-responsive reply excerpted below:

I did not have trouble navigating the site. I had trouble getting it to charge a reasonable price as compared to expedia or orbitz for the exact same flights.

Way to alienate customers.

Yes, and explains why the united.com low price guarantee is no longer offered.

Just booked a quick IAD/SFO R/T and the new site worked flawlessly. Ticketed within 5 minutes as well. Nice change from June when I couldn't get either the old site or the new site to work, and was reduced to using the phone to book a flight.
