You are searching with the RPU upgrade option and this is just a IT failure for this route. Reported before in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ad-merged.html and other threads. You will have to search without this option and do the upgrade request the old fashioned way.

Ah, got it. Thanks!

According to everywhere on United.com, as well as threads I've read here, one should be able to use RPU on EWR/HNL and back. However, for every date I'm searching, it is now allowed... What's up with this?

Had the same issue with IAD-HNL, my issue is probably somewhere in these 100 pages

Book it and then you can apply manually using the upgrade button in your reservation - no fare class minimum. I booked with R1 and it changed to R2 about 2 weeks later and both my RPU's cleared.

I followed up with 1K desk after I did everything manually and they said it looked fine and the upgrades happened automagically and I could just pick new seats after the upgrade went thru.

Fare class availability is broken again in award searches. Not showing up at all. This was working earlier this week.

Still works for revenue searches at the moment.

I don't know if it's the same issue as above on HNL routes, but in selecting RPU upgrade option when searching for Dec 1-3 roundtrip between IAH and NYC, I'm getting numerous flights listed as "not eligible for upgrade". That does't make any sense because, unless I'm mistaken or missed an announcement, all fare classes are currently eligible for RPUs (at least the waitlist option, which is shown on the remaining flights that are not listed as "not eligible for upgrade").

After purchase, I printed the final "Trip Information" page on my color laser printer (from Chrome). The document is mostly unreadable due to the gray text. UA's UI experts need to read this:

Just saw this seatmap:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...ny-seatmap.jpg

Flight: HDQ-ETK UA 1239

Aircraft type is 600.

10 rows of PolarisSM business class. Total: 100 biz class seats. Upgrade should be easy. :p:p:p

Row 10-60 are regular economy. Total: 500 economy seats. No E+. UA selling lots of tickets!

Is this military airplane?

Neither airport code appears to exist as an IATA defined airport code, however I believe these are pseudo-cities -- "HDQ" being used for "Headquarters" (though it seemed to me WHQ was more common) while IIRC "ETK" has been used as a place of issue for E-Tickets purchased online.

My guess is that this is some kind of "paper"/agent training "flight" that was never intended to be seen by the outside world.

In fact, if I look at UA1239 from united.com for Friday I get a PDX-SFO flight, but if I try it for today (Saturday), I get "An error occurred while processing your request (564)" or "The number entered is not a valid flight number" so I'm guessing someone figured out they did something wrongish

I have a number of upcoming trips (from next Feb-Jun) where I can't select seats in the forward cabin despite being booked into A or Z fares. These are on 757-200s for the most part so I'm not sure if its an issue where they're just assuming that there is going to be an aircraft swap so they want to block seat assignments or what but the 1K desk is also stumped.

Perhaps you've discovered the United skunkworks which is working on design of the next generation ultra high-density 777 ? :D

You know it just occurred to me that this seating would not be legal IIRC, I think under the FARs (though I can't find it right now) you can't have more than 3 seats between any passenger seat and an aisle

Actually, that's the layout for the 737 MAX.

How much is the upfare to F? I can't imagine F would be any more comfortable than Y!
