What's the longest first class upgrade standby list / waitlist that you've ever seen?

John Smith? Considering the person the person you're alluding to would be very unlikely to be sitting in the middle of the revenue J upgrade list.

Incidentally, at time of departure the upgrade list was 143 long.

Thankfully it's a short flight so not a huge miss.

High, in a literal sense. That is, they'll get shorter because status expires end Jan, and Jan/Feb are light months for travel. They won't be shorter because qualifying elites are suddenly a rarity — that won't happen.

I remember flying IAD-SFO perhaps 6y ago. Though the year is foggy, the trip itself was memorable for two reasons. I was amazed that I scored the one and only UG on a list that I cannot recall how long it was but that it was very long on a 6pm-ish flight. The other reason I remember: IIRC, this was the last time I had a sundae on UA (on a 752).
