Notice anyone sitting on the floor?

YMMV.
Here's an idea: Don't read it. Simple.

Two Words: Long Layover.

I don't fly enough now to make a memby work at all. But a long layover is a great way to spend $50 for a few hours of internet, a seat, and power nearby.

On the same $50 pass, however, the agents REALLY went out of their way to let me know there was no seating left. I accepted anyway and walked up to an open workstation. I really thought UA was great on this one.

People here get outraged over the indignity of being served a drink in a plastic cup. You'd have 10 topics here a day about a club employee on a power trip. In any event it shouldn't be the employees responsibility to seat people in a lounge because UA can't figure out how to control traffic into their clubs

UA now closes the club in T7 at 8pm to allow the contractors more time to finish the renovations. THE old IFL regularly has a queue out the door and down the hall after 8pm, you have to wait to for somebody to leave before they allow entry. The SYD and MEL flights both leave around 10pm so the place is jammed. I wouldn't bother trying to get in after 8pm.

For all of the disbelievers, this is indeed the case and has been for weeks now. We were fortunate to be swept in by the GS agent - past the huge conga line out the front door. (She described it as like a NY night club!). There were raised voices of complaint and calls for security the whole 1.5 hours we sat there waiting for the LAX-MEL flight. If you don't trust Mr. Brown, then perhaps you will trust a couple of old time FTers telling you exactly what happened to them.

It is a disgrace at present

I have commented here before about the overcrowding in the clubs that I frequent, which is really starting to get under my skin. One of the issues I have is the seating layout in many clubs, which seems to be set up to cater to small groups (4-6 people) rather than to singles/couples. This encourages people to lay claim to any empty seats in their "cluster" via bags/coats/cheese residue (!) on seats, and even if a seat is open I think many people simply don't like to sit with strangers in such a cluster...I know I don't.

Same reason I won't patronize a restaurant that has tables so close together that I feel like I'm part of the next table's conversation...I want at least a modicum of personal space.

the club at EWR C120 that i frequent is perpetually packed. SFO at T-3F and T-3 mezzanine when i go is perpetually packed. NRT is disgustingly packed. LAX 71 is perpetually packed. all the ORD ones are perpetually packed. i just assume that any UC i walk into is going to be a war zone. if it's not, i have been trained to think of that as a victory.

i haven't been to an admirals club or delta sky club lately, i wonder if they're all like this too?

The two Admiral's Clubs at MIA can be very crowded, but I've never been forced to sit on the floor. They have several AC's at DFW, so there isn't a seating problem, and while the LAX AC can get packed, I've always been able to get a seat.

Just as a public service, there is exactly one correct strategy for *G with a long layover at LAX (that is if you don't go to In-N-Out), especially if you have Pre-Check.

Exit the terminal, walk to TBIT, go through security again (I know it's a pain), and go to one of the best business class lounges I've ever experienced. Sip champagne (OK, it's really California sparkling, but pretty tasty) on the outdoors terrace and contemplate how much happier you are than at the overcrowded UC or the presently dry AC lounge in the even grosser T2.

This is one of the funniest things I ever read on this forum, Alton Brown mobbed by fans at LAX. As I sat fairly close to Joe Montana, Matt Lauer, Carlos Santana near gate areas, I feel confident that Alton would be safe from the mob of fans. All were at LAX as well.

UA should not be selling any day passes or allowing any Chase passes at LAX during the construction. There simply is not enough space, and UA should take care of their members and premium customers first. Better yet, they should make special arrangements for GF customers to give them a better experience (and help alleviate some of the over-crowding); i.e. shuttle them to the TBIT *A lounge, and then escort them onto the plane.

But they don't have the most watched turkey recipe video on food network! Don't under estimate the popularity of celebrity chefs! My sis-in-law screamed "Anthony!" really really loud when she saw Anthony Bourdain in Vegas.

Personally I cannot stand Alton Brown and his quirky ways on his shows, but his turkey recipe was pretty good.
