Evidently, you can also watch any of the ISIS execution videos in graphic living color with full stereophonic sound, as I sadly learned when my neighbor, at the ORD C-16 club a few days ago, decided that he needed to brush-up on execution techniques.

He was a real winner.
He essentially threatened me when I quietly requested that he lower the volume on his macbook.

I'm torn on this - he is doing his job but there could be kids in the club. Does he have a screen shield on/wear headphones at least?

Moderator Note

We all know there is non-PG content on the internet and some will watch it in inappropriate situations but there is really no reason to go into the full litany of travelers behaving badly here -- that's not the thread topic.

Let's return to original topic of the blocking of more conventional content on UA's internet access for customers.

Just for jollies I bounced over to Fox News just now to see the article. Nothing particularly interesting. What she wanted to do and bits about why she thinks it would be great and why Republicans think it would be terrible. Not exactly news from either perspective.

Not sure why I pay for United wifi when it blocks all HTTPS connections. Basically, email, Skype, Messages, any kind of search are all blocked. Oh and they filter any website about "guitars" still.

You're doing something wrong. Skype is blocked (and properly so) but e-mail, iMessenger, and internet search tools all work fine.

United Club WiFi blocking Skype

Tried to use Skype today at the United Club above gate 74 at LAX and couldn't log on. So, I tried to open www.skype.com and got a red screen informing me that United Club had saved me from some attack, and blocked skype.com. Apparently not allowed to use P2P anymore.

That's good! They finally got rid of skype.

Still people could go through there mobile phones and use skype but at least the % of people using skype at the UC via Microphone is now less.

For the record I only text message on it in public places, and have no problem at all asking someone to quite down if they are getting too loud on Skype or the phone including one woman recently talking loudly on her cell phone sitting right under the "no cell phone use" sign.

Sign is useless when you have people using there laptops mic w/ an earphone instead of the cell phone
