Fair point! We should be happy when there is a change we truly like.

Still not clear but wonder if UA is testing out impact of RPU/CPU use on this route before making any final determinations. It seems to be a policy change and it's consistent with what they've done to the service in United First on this route.

Has anyone had more recent experience with GUM-HNL using an RPU?

I currently have an SFO-HKG-GUM-HNL-SFO trip booked (K fare), but when trying to upgrade using an RPU it only gives me the option to upgrade HKG-GUM (waitlisted) and HNL-SFO. Despite the GUM-HNL leg showing R9, the upgrade confirmation page still shows that as economy.

Thanks

Red face

How about PVG-GUM-HNL?

Would RPU work?

PVG-GUM is CPUable. So RPU will work.

GUM-HNL, as always, is GPU only.

Bug Fixed?

I have a flight to Guam in February and I have to break the trip up in HNL due some meetings there. If I want to upgrade the HNL-GUM segment the computer is ONLY accepting a GPU. Looks like the bug is fixed or only occurs when there is a connecting segment and not a stopover, if that makes sense.

Back in October, I used an RPU for HKG-GUM-HNL-LAX-IAD. There was no stopover. All segments were cleared. So, YMMV. Happy holidays.

Roger but problem is I have a stopover in HNL from IAD. The stopover is probably why it requires a GPU versus just an RPU

No way to upgrade HNL-GUM or vv?

Doesn't seem to accept RPUs, GPUs or cash+miles upgrade. Shouldn't this be RPU eligible since US territories?

30k miles plus $, depending on fare class. Use link below and select North America/Hawaii as origination and Asia-Pacific/Oceania as destination.

Yes, that's a weird one.

There were some reports last year where flights were u/g with RPU, though IIRC we never found out if that was a glitch. Don't believe it's available now.

Ca$h + miles u/g is usually available on all fares, GPU not so much.

I was able to RPU but I think that's because I'm going GUM-SFO.
