Requalified as a 1k in 2014 for the 2015 year.
A lot of shorter trips (NE regional) resulted in slightly lower miles from 2013 but still more than enough for 1k. |
Have been in and out of 1K for years, and have been a MM for a number of years too.
This year 1K > (Lifetime) Gold Would have got Plat but 1250-mile flight on LH was disallowed because it was operated by Air Malta :mad::mad: Would have been exempt from PQD because spent more than $35 on a Chase United card last year. Have 50K flying with UA booked between now and the end of March, but not a lot thereafter — or not yet. Have been looking at changing to AA for sometime. Only reason I didn't this time was because SO needs guaranteed upgrades for her legs (veins kaput), but she is not going to fly much in future so may look at it again, or stick with it until I make 2MM (but with the changes to the program I estimate that my miles earning rate will decrease by 60% after March 1 unless I start buying more expensive tickets). |
5 day brief update on statistics of this thread.
I am working on the statistics for this thread and will post more information later. So far, I have counted 200 respondants through Post #204 (including those who reported for 2 persons). 46% have dropped in status from 2014 to 2015. 40 % have stayed the same. 14 % increased status.
The most noticable trend so far among FTers who have reported to this thread is that of the 46% who reported dropping in status, 58% were 1K in 2014. Of that 58%, 50% dropped to Gold or Below. Of course, FTers represent a very small percentage of all MP members, so it is just speculation to predict how well these figures represent the general population of MP members. It would help if more FTers would report to this thread. Those who have already posted, please go back and edit your posts to give more reasons to help us all understand your status changes. Thanks. And please also answer the survey in the other thread about your 2015 plans for earning 2016 status. Thanks. I will edit the WIKI later with more statistics, but I have a lot of other things to do today. Thanks. |
1K again
Made 1K but with the bump in spend, I reached out to AA for status match and there are some affordable biz fares I will be migrating to AA. Now I have to figure out what to do with 800,0000 miles.

More statistics update at 5 1/2 days from beginning of thread.
Here is the status breakdown of the 200 persons so far reporting included in the survey statistics (see post #213 above) : GS 3%, 1K 35%, Platinum 19.5%, Gold 18%, Silver 12%, GM 12.5%.
No GS dropped below 1K. 6 GS dropped, replaced by 3 new ones. 16 Platinums dropped, replaced by 9 new ones. So there was a slight decrease in Platinums...combined with the number of 1Ks who dropped below Platinum, shows a trend of a smaller group that would be in Boarding Group 1...(if these statistics from this survey would be interpreted to somehow signal a drop of MP members across the system...We can only speculate on this, as FT is such a small percentage of the entire MP population, and not everyone on FT will respond to this thread. But it is interesting to see such a drop of 1Ks to be below Platinum who have reported in this thread. We need a great many more FTers to post in this thread to increase the data. Tell your FTer friends to post! |
Remained a 1K. That is 4 years in a row. Should retain 1K for 2016 with my typical 5-6 TPAC's.
|
1990's - 2013 1K
2014 - Platinum - health cut flying 2015 - 1K 2016 - ? may drop to Platinum (2MM bottom) Have 3 million award miles and time to start using them. |
kept my 1K staus for 2015
|
2014 1K (MM)
2015. Gold (MM) ... under on miles, over on spend Fell under due to doing match on AA/US |
No status on UA now. Silver last year. Have had continual status (bumping between Gold and Silver) for 15+ years, mostly leisure travel. Trying Delta now...
|
1K retained
Retained 1K in 2015.
Overseas based so no spend requirement (yet). Status achieved through usual mix of TPAC and TPAC+TATL (SYD-SFO-FRA). Will be much the same pattern for 2015 with 21,000 miles on the clock so far. |
As point of explanation on why no GS has dropped below 1K, I believe United automatically offers a soft landing for GS customers. So any GS that does not requalify for GS will be 1K during the next program year regardless of mileage flown or dollars spent.

I've been Gold for the past 8 years or so. I am Platinum for this year.
|
Dropped from plat to silver
work travel cut dramatically, but splitting what's left between UA and DL. |
