In regards to the IAD - FRA flight, UA932, UA.com still shows it as being on time, however several flight tracker websites show that it is in fact cancelled. Anyone know what the deal is with this flight? If it is in fact cancelled, then that would make a total of at least 4 separate and distinct UA B777s that went mechanical...in ONE DAY!!!

well, looking at .bomb for 932 on 4/8, it still shows "on schedule" but by now obviously the flight should have been completed...

the return flight UA933 today 4/9 shows canceled on flightaware, and on .bomb shows "on schedule" with the same tail number that was to have operated 4/8's UA932 (a/c #2826)

Seems like the fog in SYD on Monday has caused havoc all week. My friend (GS) was scheduled to fly out on 4/6 but couldn't get out until 4/9 and then only in Y...

932 B777 which was IAD to FRA on 4/8 and 933 FRA to IAD B777 still shows as being 'on time' on UA.com. At this point, I think its a safe bet to say the flights were cancelled. Thing is, if you are a passenger on these flights and happen to be relying on UA.com for flight updates, you would check out of your hotel/leave your home and head to the airport thinking you were going to be leaving on time.

Maybe some other flyers may understand what is happening here.

My wife (also 1K) was booked to fly from LIM to IAH and then on to SJC this morning (12:35AM) on UA855 (and booked on BF). Right before departing to the airport, she received the message that the flight had been canceled (due to Aircraft maintenance). We scrambled to rebook her through the 1K desk in the US, and after a while she is booked for the same flight a day later. Had great help from the 1K desk but could not rebook her in the same class (BF) so she had to settle for E+.

Since it was pointless to go to the airport to get these vouchers, we asked the 1K desk about this, they advised to get a refund for the difference in fare and for reimbursement for the extra hotel and meal expenses. So far so good.

The funny part arises this morning (8AM Lima time) when I find that this flight (UA855) is on route to IAH (as I write this with the notation of "Delayed (3 hours)".

So what is going on here? Did they fix the plane when we were not looking? Anybody has any ideas what happened here?

Also, I think that in addition to the reimbursement mentioned above there needs to be further UA compensation for the extreme inconvenience of staying one more day here and having to go in economy for a red eye flight.

I will ask for clarification from the 1K Desk later but thanks for your comments.

I have no information particular to this flight, but have seen a domestic flight cancel and subsequently be reinstated without notification to passengers. Unusual but possible. Unfortunately I think you're unlikely to receive anything but e-certs in addition to the reimbursement you mention for specific expenses.

Did you want to go the next day? There are plenty of ways from Peru to the Bay Area.

Yeah and the BOG-IAH flight frequently has empty seats up front.

Not to mention the various options on AV and CM.

OP, where do you see 855 in the air today? What I see is this morning's 855 cancelled, and a new special section UA2062 departing at 2300 tonight, roughly 22.5 hours late. I would think your wife could get a BF seat on that. The app says J is only booked to 12/30.

Where does Google pull its flight info from? I checked a couple other sites as well, and they all say its not flying. The only one for which I know the data source is united.com.

I do not know where Google gets its info. But doing the search again, it shows that flight has arrived in IAH. This was confirmed talking to the 1K desk as well. Talking to the 1K Care desk negotiation compensation for inconvenience.

By the way the alternatives of going with other airlines or routes were way too long. Did not want to go through Panama, El Salvador, etc.
