The United app says "Delayed due to ATC conditions impacting our flight operations".

I don't know the specific reason, but I do remember reading about about the EWR-BOM flight with MX issues in BOM.

There is a thread around Delayed/Canceled International Flights

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...ts-2015-a.html

There is also a thread that shows the history of issues with your specific flight

Maybe it is their way of saying: we are going to have inclement weather and we cannot leave with a full complement of passengers.

(The first time I went there, 8 years ago, this is exactly what happened, and this was the reason).

I doubt the issue is India-side. It is more likely something on the way.

Yes, but it was just recirculating hot air. Like running a fan in a hot room - provides a little relief but doesn't lower the temperature at all.

The cabin didn't cool down until we were at altitude. The pilots probably had it worst. I used the far forward lav on the UD after we'd been in the air for about 30 mins and it was noticeably warmer toward the cockpit.
A similar thing happened to me earlier this year on HND-SFO as when we boarded, the aircraft was uncomfortably hot (warmer than the NH aircraft that I flew on for MNL-HND, which had the engines switched off during boarding). When asked about why is it so hot, the FA said that they were trying to not use the APU so much, and that we should "try to be patient because the air conditioning system will start working once we are heading for out to the runway."

At least by the time we were in the air, it had cooled down to a more tolerable level, but what I found strange was that the 777 got so hot so quickly. At night, in HND, in March.

So, yes. Flight was canceled due to severe en-route weather conditions.

so weak....
Normally if UA 835 has problem, UA 836 would use UA 857's aircraft in Shanghai and delay about 3 hrs...

This time, both aircraft failed.....

10/01 UA906 B777 FRA-ORD Cancelled due to aircraft maintenance.

The only other n/s flight is at 5:20 and it looks to be sold out. Looks like folks will now have to connect through SFO to get to ORD basically turning a 8 hour flight into a 17 hour ordeal.

10/01 UA 4 B787 IAH-LHR Cancelled already due to Operational difficulties and this is 12 hours before the scheduled flight. Also,
10/02 UA 5 B787 LHR-IAH Cancelled due to operational difficulties

if they canceled quickly enough before departure, perhaps shuttling people to MUC for the later MUC-ORD LH flight was an option. of course, this says nothing of onward connections ex-ORD
