maybe an option for me. I simply need to get to IAD tomorrow night to make my iad-bah flight. right now on hold for over an hour waiting as my UAX flight was cancelled to get into IAD via Richmond which I hope is easy to find. We shall see.

My 92 year grandmother was scheduled to fly home to CLE from BTV on 1/1 but the flight was cancelled due to weather and she was rebooked to 1/4. Last night's flight cancelled again. She has now been rebooked for 1/7 BTV-EWR-CLE with the other BTV-CLE nonstop flights unavailable. She is not in a condition to do the transfer at EWR herself -- will United cover the accompanied service to get her onto her connection?

I'm calling to ask and see what they can do for me, but have been on hold 1+ hour (and thats with the callback service; the Elite lines were completely screwed when I tried there).

My flight Monday was cancelled last night. This morning, the flight remains cancelled but there is an equipment change (320 to 73G) on the flight. Interesting... I guess they are trying to shift the aircraft around...

Wow.. looking at the ORD departures board for 1/5 on flightstats, isolating just for UA flights - it looks REALLY bad.... only flights that seem to be operating are hub-hub.

Looks like AA is handling it much better at ORD.

There are thousands of people stranded around the country on the last day of holiday break trying to get home, and you worry about a seat type??

I agree and that's the point of my post above. If AA can pull it off today at ORD why can't UA?

But those too will be messed up. All flights to and from SNA today are cancelled, but those planes would then turn and go to DEN or SFO. Maybe they will just add those flights to the hub routes to get people out of ORD?

Interesting... looking at ORD. There's only 5 cancelled flights from 6-9 AM for mainline AA. The rest are en-route or landed. There are 2 flights that ran on mainline UA for the same time period (rest cancelled).

I last flew on Friday, through IAD, luckily my connection was delayed only 3 hours, which actually worked out since my TATL inbound was also late 2 hours. The auto-rebooking system protected me on Monday night... gee thanks.

It appeared to be carnage at the miles long rebooking lines already then.
I can only imagine how much of a snowball effect everything has had,

I am actually very surprised UA is not reaching the point of a systemwide meltdown yet.

You cant get thru on phones, forget getting rebooked in the airport, and even if you get to someone, it seems like there isnt any United space available for days, ANYWHERE.

"Worried"? No. Did the thought cross my mind? Yes.

Lord knows that everyone on flyer talk is putting their petty concerns on hold given the plight of today's travelers.....

I think the post above yours (written at the same time) indicates a UA meltdown:

Today's ARN-EWR flight landed almost on time, but still no bags one hour after landing.
They're blaming icy conditions on the tarmac.
Of course, the bags for UA80 that landed five minutes later had their first bags out 20 minutes ago..
