Per https://sites.google.com/site/united...s-mod-schedule

all 4 remaining 764s are in mod. But why are all the seat maps for IAD-BER/BER-IAD on 7/11 or after still showing the old config? Do they switch the seat maps last minute or are there still aircrafts in old config flying around?

I think when they first assign the tail approximately two days out, they swap the the actual seat map, which then has to be the Polaris 764 one. Not sure why they haven't simply removed / updated all flights.

Thinking of booking this one HNL to IAD in lieu of HNL to ORD on 781. Outside pairs would work better for our family of four. Would add 1.5 hours to our final destination of MSP. Worth the extra time to take this one?

No. Unless weather might be a factor fly the 781 to Chicago. For overnight domestic first, there isn’t enough difference to matter. I’m doing the HNL-IAD 767 Saturday, but it saves me time and flying alone seems better in the smaller cabin

Sounds like Y if "outside pairs" are mentioned. I might be inclined to take the -IAD- route on the 764 in that scenario. IAD also has better non-UA lounge options if that is a factor.

Premium Economy also has outside pairs on both the 781 and 764.

But then there wouldn't be any comparative advantage to one aircraft or the other, while OP seems to be considering trading extra flying time (disadvantage) for better seat config (advantage).

correct, the outside pairs in Y appeal to us, else on the 781 one person has to be the odd one out. PP on 781 would work only if we could BU at reasonable cost.
