Add me to the list of people who do not like this change. It kinda hard to find flight to use my 10 RPUs on if I can't see what flights have R seats. I will call the Ik desk and take up the agents time (Hours if I have to) to find the right flights. ...

Versus $15 for a two-month KVS subscription that would allow you to find "R" inventory? Good heavens, man.

Or, you know, just using the website.

Have made two multi-segment trips to LHR from OGG in the past 6 weeks (including the Olympic time frame) using GPU's and spent less than one hour in putting each of the trips together. I have invested more than 6 hours working on the identical trip with some flexibility in my travel dates through the remainder of the year without success. What a time waster. Maybe I should call in and have an agent join me in the misery. I suspect that with the tools that they have at their disposal, they would be able to come up with available dates or be able to confirm non availability in less than one hour. Oh wait....these were the same tools we used to have. It is amazing how many web pages that I need to constantly refer back and forth to get the same info I had before. If you don't believe me, try putting together a multi-segment itinerary using GPU's.

Fair enough, but you won't get revenue buckets off the website.

What I worry about is that Agents will not "be able to see" inventory in R either...either because they won't look or beacause that ability will be take away from them...so then I will have to keep calling and calling if I can't get availability...grrr

While I don't like the change..

I find the FT community on this thread less than professional.

Like it or not UA is a business, suck it up or move on, if you are here to whinge and complain, it's not going make UA change their stance on the issue.

Just get over it and move on, personally I'm sick of reading all the nonsense crap from posters on this issue.

Get over it, it's here, has happened, deal with it, rather than act like a bunch of cry babies.

So we should just roll over and accept any change UA makes?

Have you skipped out on reading anything on FT over the past decade or so?

This is beyond ridiculous.

Because the first place the change was publicized was on FT.

UAInsider posted the change, not because we are important, but as a matter of this weird thing called Social Media.

A number of changes that "we did not like" were undone or not implemented because of our outcry. Hence the observation that you are being ridiculous. Just to name a few:
Shrinking Globe
Elite Qualification based upon dollar spend
Boarding process
Elimination of E+

Sorry to hear about someone taping your eyelids open and forcing you to read the thread! Hope that person is punished.

Want to back that up with a Quote from UA?

Did you see the #1 post in this thread from UA Insider? There surely wasn't any kind of customer mass email (I didn't get one and none have been reported here) or company press release.. it seems that FT and perhaps one other travel forum site were the only official points of notification.

This is a great idea - anything we can do to reverse this decision?

Many starting points:
1. Media: WSJ, travel blogs
2. Investor Relations
3. Sr. Management, Board Members
4. Shareholders - especially JPM and mutual funds
5. Social: online petition, viral message

There was a petition for the Million Milers United on change.org millionmilersunited.com - as well as a class action suit going on. In their response to the court, United showed they just don't care. United does not care. Not Smisek, not the board - unless it shows in their pocketbooks.

We are a small group, but collectively, if we stop flying UA, all of us (I have completely), it will hurt the bottom line. THEN they will listen. There's no other way around it. Stop flying United and the board will have to get rid of Smisek.

Did anyone see this Reuters article in the Chicago Tribune?

The business travelers - the over-entitled ones - are going elsewhere. As stated in article:

United said last week its share of lucrative corporate fliers has been less than it expected because of problems resulting from the blending of operational systems from United and Continental following their merger.

More like problems resulting from how they are treating their best passengers. Don't be fooled for one minute, Smisek is looking out only for himself. He does not care about anyone else. It's all about him and his bonus. The mentality starts at the top and trickles down to everyone.

I will bet they joke about us during their meetings and dinners - I can see it now. To them, we are all over-entitled. The CFO blurted out EXACTLY what the management thinks, it wasn't a mistake.

If this continues, I can't imagine why any premium passenger would stick around. Someone made a comment about being at the gate, on a couple of flights, when they called GS and 1K for boarding, he noticed there were none....anyone notice the same thing? Just curious if they are going elsewhere.
