Shanon,
Very, very bad move. :td: I too use this feature daily and make decisions as to which flights to book based on this information. Why don't you just enable this feature post login? That way you can track the bad actors and freeze their accounts. I strongly encourage you to reconsider this non-customer-centric decision. Lastly, your title implies that you have responsibility for "customer insights". This decision leads me to believe you are a) not collecting any or b) no one in WHQ is listening to you. [edited for typo] |
Wow. All the problems at UA, and this is what they choose to change next.
The decisions coming out of IAHdbaORD are mind-boggling sometimes. |

It's not just the inability to see this info on UA's website but also a blackout of this info on third-party services. We're flying blind now.
This absolutely sucks. It is annoying and makes what many of us like to do harder. But let's not pretend that somehow UA is the only carrier NOT sharing this information now. |

I have not heard a word from EFlyer. Usually they love to tell me when they ADD new airlines. I guess that $9.99 I'll save a month. I hope the owners of EFlyer didn't all run out and buy new homes yet with all the new UA customers they've signed up since 3/3. For every 100 new customers that signed up they'll now lose 150. This sucks

Fair point...which other airline publishes all this data to 3rd party sources? AA has some data at some resources, but not all. DL and US don't either.....

I struggle to understand why United is getting worse by the day - spinning the reasoning for getting rid of "Expert mode" like this is just unfathomable to me.
"Specifically, for many customers who are not as familiar with the ins and outs of fare structures, there was often room for this information to be misinterpreted." Are you kidding me? These customers wouldn't have toggled on "EXPERT mode" in the first place! Expert mode was an opt-in feature of the site. I can't believe how horrible my once favorite airline has become - treating loyal customers like they're idiots. smh. so hard. I really need AA to pick up at SFO. |
Does anyone notice the lack of further response from the UA flack? I sure did. They know the stink will die down and we'll continue to heel. Flyertalkers don't matter to United. We're over-entitled customers whether or not we're elite because we're the main ones capable of using this information to our advantage. United doesn't want that.
I read through this entire thread. With the exception of one apologist post that weirdly blames KVS for this situation, there is unanimity of opposition. I've never seen such unanimity on FT. But it doesn't matter, more "changes that I think you'll like" lay ahead. After all, in many places UA is effectively a monopoly and doesn't have to play fair. The right action would be an anti-trust lawsuit by the government. Won't happen, but we can write and ask for it. |
I've got to change my handle now. Idiots...

This is what happens when we are down essentially to 3 airlines. They will ALL screw us until there is a viable alternative that will cost them $$$$$$$.

Figures
I just renewed my ExpertFlyer subscription for another year.
Another change........ |
I am wondering when I should say "this is the last straw" and switch over to AA. United, you've hit a new low.

Shannon made the announcement near the end of the day on a Friday--the only thing I'm a bit surprised about with regards to the timing was that it wasn't done last Friday (leading into a holiday weekend).
