If the DidItClear website is going to be effective, it needs more members and trip upgrade data!

Please visit https://www.diditclear.com/ and include your trip experience with CPU's, RPU's, GPU's and any other means of upgrading available on United.

The better the data, the better the search results and experiential history.

Only for denying you "free upgrades" which you earned. The TOD flyers who take away your waitlisted ug from your full fare GPU supported ticket as 1K MM to not need to meet any fare bucket requirements. Au contraire, the lower their class - literally - the cheaper they can take away your ug,

PS flights (JFK - SFO/LAX) is a business travel heavy route and many bookings in the last week/days. Certain days/times are difficult and others not so bad. If you think it is a peak business travel date/time -- Sunday evening/Monday morning / Thursday evening/ Friday morning and many redeyes -- it can be rough.

As an 1K with a little avoidance of peak times, an 95% over the past couple of years. LAX<>JFK is a little easier than SFO<>JFK and I have SDC from SFO PS flight to the LAX flight. That said for certain event days LAX<>JFK is bad.
So with no additional info, impossible to guess.

Want to get some FT wisdom here-- I have two sponsored RPUs from a GS account on EWR-HNL coming up on Sunday this month waitlisted for PN.

Is this typically a very hard route to clear, like EWR-HKG? I see availability in PN for IAD-HNL... is my best strategy to wait until T-24, then SDC to that if it doesn't clear? Or hope for it to clear at the gate?

RPU usability on 2 separate trips?

Last month I booked SFO-IAH-MIA roundtrip and was upgraded using RPU each way. I now need to leave SFO for DEN the very same day I arrived back to SFO. Is it possible to combine those two trips and try to apply the RPU onto the SFO-DEN segment?

It is not possible to apply a RPU across two separate tickets. So to do this, the original ticket would need to be changed to include the new segment. There may be significant additional costs to to that.

good to know, thanks.

I got the upgrade to F, 8 seats, only 3 taken, what an experience... I bet it will be a bit harder on the return (since I'm flying out of a LH hub instead of out of Denver? Pure speculation though...)

I love LH F! Unlike anything else on LH which can be mediocre.

Did you sample the FCL in FRA upon arrival? Just for the heck of it?

And were you on the a 747-800 by any chance?

re: FCL, I didn't get a chance to check it out yet, as I had to go straight to work.

I'll try to check it out on my return flight next Friday (I'll check in thursday evening then come through the lounge Friday, hopefully...)

based on seatguru, I think the plane was just an older 747-4 (LH 447). Doesn't the 8 have a larger 2nd level?

1. What is the best chance for R space? Does it show up at certain times before a flight? I've been looking at trying to book some TATL/TPAC flights for next year and I'm just not seeing any R, anytime near when I want to fly.

2. I'm doing BOM-EWR this weekend and I was pretty excited that there were 8 seats still in the expert fare display when I went to dinner and 90 minutes later:

J1, JN1, C1, D1, Z1, ZN1, P0, PN0, R0, RN0, IN0, I0, Y9, YN9, B9, M9, E9, U9, H9, HN9, Q9, V8, W8, S7, T3, L2, K0, G0, N0, XN0, X0

Nothing changed on the seat map (I know not a great indicator). Really, 6 seats got sold that fast? I don't remember the Zs when I looked last. Did they open up the R and people on the waitlist got upgraded and I'm basically screwed since I didn't get an email?

I understand it's UA sandbox, but the lack of transparency on upgrades makes me wonder what actually goes on.

Looks like its a good thing that the GPUs are going to be extended...

no pat answers -- it varies

good chance of UA cleared part of the waitlist, the paid upgrades tend to peak at/after T-24. And it is not unccommon for there to be some last minutes premium cabin sells -- those making last minute travel decisions and those buying premium cabin have a heavy overlap.

Getting the email notice is a non-issue. If you were upgraded, you were upgraded. The email is a notification but you are not required to do anything with it.

If J1 there is still a chance, get watching and hope you are the top of the list after check-in.

Couldn't get back to sleep, so I looked now and:

J7, JN7, C7, D4, Z1, ZN1, P0, PN0, R0, RN0, IN0, I0, Y9, YN9, B9, M9, E9, U9, H9, HN9, Q9, V9, W9, S9, T8, L6, K2, G0, N0, XN0, X0

Do they do some weird inventory manipulation or something, or perhaps did someone hold onto a block of tickets and then let them back into inventory?

So I did clear on the BOM-EWR leg, which is double good since we sat for two hours in BOM with the door closed so that they could work out a weight and wind issue.

I never appeared on the upgrade list. I got an email right about at t-24 saying the upgrade had cleared. On my EWR-DEN leg, same GPU, I was listed on the upgrade list- and this had cleared over a month ago.

Why does a cleared GPU show up on domestic flight but not for the international flight?

Something to do with UA not wanting to let on how many upgrades they are handing out?

Both EWR-BOM-EWR flights were full, big time. A few seats open IIRC. In the past, the return was almost always empty middle seats in Y. That makes a huge difference. I even had a three seat to myself once.
