I had two flights this week (res made well before 3/3) completely disappear from the reservation system...both had been successfully upgraded with regionals. After spending over six hours on the phone with the nicest but most useless agents I have ever talked to (and I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was the transition to Shares that prevented them from helping me) I was forced to go to LAX w/o confirmation of a reservation, three hours early...it took two senior UA CSRs and a CO assistant nearly two hours to find me in the system...only to find that my seat had been given away and the flight was now oversold! Fortunately, I knew one of the UA agents (for over 30 years) and he took it upon himself to put me on a DL flight...in F no less...but it took three levels of approvals before it happened. As I left the desk to run to the DL flight, my UA "angel" whispered to me that the new system just does not allow them to do what they were able to in the past and that the new UA is "not" about customer service...and please write to corporate since they will listen to the customer!
My return from BOS was also a problem...my upgrade disappeared and the replacement E+ aisle seat (put in the system by the agents at LAX) was given away and even though I had my boarding pass with the correct seat, I was given the option of a E- center seat in the second to last row or not to fly...it was a miserable flight and even the BOB was sold out by the time the cart got to us!
I am not holding my breath that either flight will show up in my account...the moral of the story is that for at least the time being, we can not trust UA and its systems...and trust lost is something that is hard to earn back! The other thing I learned is that DL F product is quite good...much better than UA or CO and they seemed really happy to have me as a customer...I may be using them more often!
It will never be Harvard since Jeff is an alum
Seriously, the merger is already being looked at under the microscope...it is already being studied and taught at Wharton (per Mrs.1KPath who is a visiting prof there)...they are looking at the cultural differences of two organizations being merged and how these differences have an impact on the success of a merger...so far the academics are giving it a C- with the reasoning that the more "established" entity is having the culture of the "lesser" entity placed on it...resulting in the "disenfranchisement" and " "disillusion"of a greater number of employees and customers and the potential "diminution" of the more established branding. (Note...these are their "words", not mine!)

Anecodotally, has anyone noticed that COdbaUA imported PMCO supervisors into PMUA hubs? It's almost like $misek needed to send out his slickly-dressed minions to make sure that the Tulips fall into line and behave.

Fun. A few days ago my PQS was fine, but PQM were missing. Now its the opposite. My PQM look about right, but PQS is off by a few flights. Hopefully things will level off once they route out the issues.

Yes, two were assisting a DEN->SFO flight on 3/5 and it took both of them puzzling over the boarding screen to help the Tulip get an infant checked in.

I now have 37,153PQM on 2 PQS. Those must have been quite the flights!
Seriously, isn't it worth taking a deep breath about this and speed of miles posting (unless you actively need the miles to book an award trip or cross a new elite threshold - the latter unlikely for most of us this early in the year). Clearly these are known issues and for those of us for whom it is not time critical don't we have the luxury of waiting a couple of weeks to give UA a chance to figure it out. The more we all hit the phone lines now the more jammed they get - and we will still be able to prove what we are owed in a few weeks time.

UA cancelled today's 5:40pm service ORD-SFO right at boarding time. A full 767.
Re-accomodation was not handled well. First the gate changed about 20 mins before boarding then it was cancelled. All elite members got was an email saying they'd been cancelled and to try to see someone or a machine (in the past there was usually an email containing details of the alternative accommodation). The 1K desk was unable to be reached in a timely way (10 min hold time).
As all remaining flights to SFO tonight immediately zeroed out (presumably not with me being re-accomodated as a 1k). I was able to find an agent to put me on AA and ran over to T3 for a 6:15pm flight which I made. That's actually a pretty good result for me but I am sure there are many folks spending the night in Chicago or with much less favorable alternatives.
The automatic notification system is not up to the previous UA system where you'd know something was up usually before the agents themselves as text messages echoed around the departure gate.

I still think the flight will leave 7:48AM on Sunday. Can't get through to agent to confirm.

I know it is bad form to bump your own post so soon, but this just does not seem right to me. Perhaps the "flight status" link is not programmed for Daylight Savings Time change yet?

But shows the follow in the Recent Activity Table below. Slow and steady. i see this and the 50% on Lufhtansa U fare as the two glitches in my system after a week. Not bad heh!!
lets see now if after next weeks flights I am back to ZERO overall on PQM and PQS
03/03/2012 2012 EQM conversion to PQM 0
03/03/2012 2012 EQS conversion to PQS 0
