UA @ SFO uses Terminals D, E, F, G, all UA gates are connected airside

UA terminal map & SFO terminal map

United clubs locations:
E gates -- near E3
F gates -- in the F rotunda
G gates -- near G9 (former Global First Lounge)
Mezzanine -- across from E1 (between E & F concourse)

United Polaris Lounge (United/Star Alliance long-haul business class passengers only) - just past Intl G security on the right.

Arrivals -- CLOSED - was near UA Domestic baggage claim (near the Internation Terminal end escalator) on the Arrival level

AMEX Centurion Lounge -- across from Gate F1

Freshen Up! -- is an independent option for Shower facilities, nap rooms, toiletries, ironing facilities and undergarments.

MCT
UA-UA D-D is usually 30 minutes
xx-UA I-D is generally 80-105 minutes (but without Global Entry this is very tight)
UA-XX D-D is ????

Incoming International (except Canadian flights arriving as domestic flights - clearance is done in Canada) - must clear USA immigration and customs even if in-transit to a non-USA destination. Therefore also need to re-clear security if connecting.

Bags can be check at either International Check (G) or Domestic check-in (T3) for either international or domestic flights -- you may get some pushback at International check-in counters checking bags for solely domestic flights (apparently it is a bit more complex to get the bags to the domestic side)

Bag storage Open Everyday 6am – 11 pm
Before security, on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal, near the entrance to Gates G91-G102.

Sounds like you have a good plan, to me.

Let's hope it goes well. Worst case there is another UA flight a few hours later
I looked up that BA287's history (I assume that's your flight!). I'll take the bet on it getting delayed, but I hope I'm wrong!

Have never done an international-to-domestic connection at SFO before. Due to a UA schedule change, what was a 4+ hour layover on a single UA-to-UA ticket is now only a 2.5 hour layover. I don’t have Global Entry but do have TSA PreCheck. Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

No - 2.5 hours is still a very comfortable connection time at SFO w/ PreCheck.

What is UA-UA D-I MCT these days? Website is offering me 68m connection SEA-SFO-ICN which seems tight, but doable.

Seems fine, I'd only be worried if your 1st leg is delayed more than 30 minutes.

All in the same security area , no extra checks, only a bit more time for the walk and needed boarding time requirements.
MCT D/D UA-UA 0.50
MCT D/I UA-UA 1.00

Is it sensible is a different question

2nd flight out into potential SFO fog, eh.

I'm not excited about the prospect of walking from E to the far end of G.

That being said, I'm very tempted to book this in the hopes of misconnecting, but maybe that's more trouble than it's worth.

There are longer walks at many US
Perhaps I don't consider that a particularity long as I usually get dropped off at G, as the security lines are short in the morning, and then walk to my E or F gate

Assuming a timely arrival even D-G is easy in 68 minutes. And ones IROPs start the exact connecting time doesn't matter, it'll be a mess no matter what.

SFO-ICN? That won't be impacted by weather. SEA-SFO there's some possibility reduced visibility could result in delays, but SFO has been improving its procedures to increase the acceptance rate and the kinds of delays that used to be the norm are now much less common.

I second the comments that E (or even D) to G is really not that far as airport walks go. 10-15 minutes, and the terminals are spacious enough that you never get the kind of crowding you see at say EWR or IAD (or even SEA).

Hi all, is 1.5 hours connection I-D with both legs on UA metal enough time? My friend has no global entry. In the event that they miss their connection flight, does UA offer protection?

US Passport?
Checked Bags?
Time of Arrival (could be busy or not busy depending on other inbound flights)

That's generally not enough time, but if carry on only, US Passport, then it should generally be okay.

Yes, if you misconnect due to issues with immigration then UA will put you on the next available flight.
