Had my first attempt with UA yesterday at MSP and got the magic three beeps. ^ I did make sure the PASS ID was in the PNR, not just my profile.

the full item is "Known Traveler Number/Pass ID (optional)"
This is for those with Global Entry / Nexus / .....
It is part of your profile and can be edited as part of "Edit traveler information" for each itin.
You can still be eligble for PreCheck without a trusted traveled id.

I find this somewhat bizarre. I would have thought that Canadians who are NEXUS/GE would be less of a security risk than those who aren't. Since we go through the same application / screening / interview process as US citizens, why shouldn't we be allowed to use pre-check?
Not even close-- the SF-86 is much more detailed.

I don't normally use my MileagePlus account, since I accumulate miles on aeroplan, but I thought I would enter my known traveller number in case it somehow might enable me to use pre-check. I noticed that the account has my name with my middle initial, not my full middle name. I had not added my passport so I did added it. I had not added a Traveller ID so I added it as well, and put in my known traveller number. Do I need to get my name changed to the full name spelled out rather than with my middle initial?

Is this available for UA travelers at EWR yet? Has TSA or UA given any indication on the time frame?

Not yet available in EWR as of last week of August when I was there.
I'm hoping it comes out soon (if ever), as the Premier Access lanes at EWR are a total joke due to being jammed up by tons of Chase credit card holders, TOD buyers, etc. etc.

What is the big deal about Pre-check? I got it at ORD a few weeks ago, and opted out. I have artificial hips and always set off the WTMD. When I approached the checkpoint, I still had to take my shoes off, belt off and the only benefit was that I could leave my computer in the bag. When I set off the WTMD, I had to get patted down like everyone else . . . You'll forgive my obtuseness, but what does this do for me??
