Thanks BillyIdol, I have no interest in losing this card whatsoever. I get most of the benefits of the card anyway by being elite with UA.

IMHO Select card was a much better deal for mileage accrual offering 2x miles on everyday purchases and on Star Alliance tix, 3x on *all* UA purchases, not just tix. Plus EQM up to 5K and 5K RDM each year for same $95 as Explorer. I'm keeping my Select and glad I upgraded my wife's Signature to a Select a few days ago in anticipation of its possible demise (thanks FT!)

This new card feels like something you get for free, or pay $40 for max - definitely not a $95 card

UA Insider - Please clarify a few points
1) For those of us with the MP Select Visa, are the card benefits changing in any way? This is a great card for me and I am concerned about it no longer being offered.
2) Will there continue to be the equivalent of the Presidential Plus card? It appears to still be there on the CO site but the United site only has the new Explorer card (no club card that I can see).

This is my big question. One of the major benefits to a PPlus card is the lack of foreign exchange fees. I would very much like to see a card offered from the new combined carrier that retained that benefit.

As I've said elsewhere, it's an easy revenue opportunity (technically, liability reduction) that may forestall cuts elsewhere that are more likely to impact me (and everyone else on this board).

My only guess is that essentially the more miles that are out there the less valuable they may be....Maybe not

It's not at all a negative for anyone on this board - it's a negative for anyone who doesn't fly the airline once every 18 months or at least spend $1 on the site. At the extreme example, there's just no way they'll have a hard expiration date for miles (SQ-style IIRC).

Exactly, it's a negative for GMs, those who save up for a great trip, but can't fly alot, and they have to go through a small hassle to get the miles to not expire. It's also just the principle of the thing. My dad, for example, just doesn't like the expiring miles. We fly enough to keep them from expiring, he just doesn't like the idea.

I asked this question on the other Explorer thread, but I'm asking it again here on the official one:
Does the 25K bonus apply to those who have existing Chase credit and Mileage Plus accounts?
The wording seems like only existing/previous MP Chase Visa accounts are ineligible.

How is this a benefit?
I thought the standard awards always worked this way -- if there is a a seat to be sold (ie, Y > 0), you can get a standard award.

So if I currently have the CO OnePass Plus card, it sounds like I'll simply be phased into this card next year? Doesn't sound like it'll work to sign up for the MP Explorer card and get the bonus miles.
