Whoo!

Does anyone know about any UA owned (or currently leased) widebodies that are still parked?

Sure, there are a handful of 744s, such as N198UA.

UA35, May 29, SFO-OGG, Domestic 763, nose #6872, new interior.

BTW, I noticed they did not restore the missing air vents above row 2.

Nice... I also flew on N550UA and N597UA, both of which had new seats.

Per an airliners.net post, another 747 is being pulled out of the desert, but it will not get the new upgraded cabin. Does anyone here have more info about this?

N194UA is in for conversion in PUS, referenced a few pages ago.

So which one is it?

A. UA is pulling two 744s out of the desert. One is N194UA which is getting converted/ checked in PUS, and the other is the still unknown reg. which is not being converted and will be used mainly on domestic hub to hub runs.

B. UA is only pulling N194UA out but it is in PUS doing only the D-Check and is not being converted.

C. UA is pulling N194UA out, it's being converted, and yet again a.net is wrong (per two sources I've spoken with).

IIRC, the last 747 that (has since been parked) wasn't converted was used solely as a "back-up" and to do military charters.

Basic question

Sorry if for the newbie question -- and if this is offtopic -- but is there a way to know or guess in advance which aircraft is going to fly a particular route on a particular day?

Even for a flight in progress, looking at FlightAware, I see tons of information, but not the actual airplane number.

Good to know. Do you know if she's also getting the new colors?

One of them appears to be operating SFO-ORD (at least on 22 June) when my seat just switched and the old seat plan came up - deja vu!

One 747 was pulled from the desert. It will not be updated it will be used for the most part on domestic routes like SFO-ORD but could be used as a sub AC on int'l routes when an IPTE 747 is pulled for repair.
