When will it be grounded? Flightaware still shows it flying around...

I can confirm seeing it last night at SFO loading up to head to JFK...

Exactly. And that's why they didn't use the CO livery. ;)

LOL. ^ :D

I believe it was mentioned in an a.net post that a non-PS UA 752 was in getting fitted for WiFi. This could mean they are converting a non-PS bird to replace N532UA.

There is I believe a non-p.s bird getting wifi, N593UA, the 757 with the new seats that they've been "testing" for over a year now. It would seem this plane is the guniea pig of the fleet. Also, it's not having GoGo put on, but Row 44, so I guess United is going to test both and see the pros and cons.

Doesn't Row 44 also offer livetv?

No idea. What I've heard is that Row 44 has greater range than GoGo, which is only available in the Continental US. It should be pretty interesting to see what happens. And when the heck are they going to decide on the seats in N593UA?

777-222ER N222UA will be the first in "Continental United" colors - it went to the paintshop at AMA on 8th November

Row 44 is what they use on Southwest, isn't it? If so, then it shouldn't be too interesting. I had to change flights at the last minute and had to fly Southwest. Besides the normal indignities associated with it, the wif-fi connection was spotty at best. Very unpleasant experience trying to get a refund as well.

Southwest made a HUGE mistake going with this service. After people have endured the cattle call, the jostling and the shoving, and the constant elbows to the side from the dolt in the middle seat, the last thing they want to deal with is a frustrating experience connecting to the internet.

Do any of the fleet gurus know... when the CO planes get folded under the single operating certificate, will they get new reg numbers?

It's out as of today, flying LAX-IAD-KWI-BAH!

Probably not, but they sure as hell should. I hate the way CO has registrations and sure hope UA ends that terrible practice.

If DL/NW is anything to go by, I don't think they will.

N773UA is in Amarillo (AMA) for paint into the new livery.

Anyone know which 757 is going in for retro livery?

I remember a few years ago, a CO ramper on a.net was saying that only CO's reg numbers allow you to tell what type aircraft it is from the reg number.

(The last three numbers on a CO reg are like the first three on most other airlines. I don't know whether the first tow have any meaning, or are random.)

The last 3-digits are supposed to be the ship number for the plane, with the first 2 being some random number and they're all over the place. It's incredibly confusing and lame. With CO changing their ship numbers to the way UA does it with 4 digit ship numbers, hopefully the registrations for UA aircraft continue the very easy and neat, NXXXUA.

It probably hasn't been decided yet, they'll probably just paint a random one since they are going to paint them all anyway.

First I've heard that the N-numbers for the CO aircraft are changing.
