Looks like it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another equipment change either scheduled or last minute. Still annoyed I can't book row 15 or any other exit row. I paid a premium to sit in C (whether by extra $$$, upgrade instrument or $$$+miles), I should be able to sit where I want!

I'm curious about the new 757 layout (not the leather seats, but the actual changed arrangement in Y). Is there still only a single plane like this?

And, more to the point of this thread, is there a way to follow it and see which routes it flies? Thanks!

All correct and I agree with your sentiment in the last paragraph!

Whatabout if N194UA is going to repaint into the new livery ?

If it doesn't then for sure when anyone see it at the gate, it would have the old config then.

IIRC, it already has the new livery.

You recall incorrectly;). While I CANNOT speak for what is happening in PUS (if it will get new colors), but N194UA was in the old livery when it was parked:

Reading this post, I think it may be in the new colors, but I suppose we will find out when some FTer has the unfortunate luck to be on it.

Posted by RS250RacerWas this the one that was parked in Goodyear, AZ?

I drove by it everyday last summer if so...thought it was odd that they had a new livery 744 parked, seemed like they would have every last one utilized!

( I was never close enough to see a tail # )

As I commented to that post too http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/14118342-post16.html N194UA was NOT at GYR, it was at VCV.

Some research indicates the plane parked at GYR (which nothing indicates it has moved) in the new livery is N193UA. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Unite...3270af39820713

:o;)

My bad, I misread the other post

Still not seeing any movement ex-PUS via ACARS... I suppose we'll see if it comes out painted.

Given the 747s parked with the new livery why would they put an old livery plane back in service?

I am quite sure that the paintjob was only one factor figuring into which plane to return to service. Other considerations could be length to C/D check, hours, etc... for instance, they may want to use the oldest plane to keep the others as new as possible.

And to echo what bmvaughn posted, not only a requiring a heavy check, but number of hours on the engines, cycles in the landing gear, amount of equity in the plane, age, etc.

The paint would be pretty low on the scale of reasons to decide what plane to use (especially considering UA's fleet has so many planes in the old livery).

it appears that UA973 has gone back and forth between new and old config.

i guess we'll find out.

bmvaughn Jun 16, 2010 8:29 am

BTW, it should be easy to catch N194UA if you see it at one of the hubs... it's the only 747 that is in the old livery.
