BTW, it should be easy to catch N194UA if you see it at one of the hubs... it's the only 747 that is in the old livery.

so i'll find out real quick next week if it's new or old ^^

How to tell if same airframe?

How can I tell if tonight from ORD-MUC on UA906 is the same aircraft as SFO-ORD on UA906?

Reason I ask, is that Mrs Steviebas is on the MUC flight but weather bound in MCI. If the inbound from SFO is the same aircraft and is also delayed then she may still make it???

In general, how can you tell where an airframe is inbound from. If anyone knows, where does tonight's UA940 start off? Thats Plan B!

Visit that link and put in flight number 906. You will see that it is not the same plane... the arrival gate of SFO-ORD is different from the departure gate of ORD-MUC. But even if it were the same plane... it looks like the inbound from SFO is going to arrive at ORD early.

If you want to know where the 906 equipment is coming from visit the O'Hare airport website and look at their flight arrivals... figure out which flight is arriving at the gate your flight is departing from.

Seems that most if not all of the narrowbody fleet has the updated F cabin leather... haven't seen an old one myself in awhile.

If folks fly on them, I'd appreciate a note so we can keep the Wiki up to date!

A good reservations agent can usually tell you the inbound flight information

Any guess as to whether we'll hear anything regarding the narrowbody order pre-merger or is this now off the table?

bmvaughn Jul 20, 2010 3:31 pm

Per today's Q2 results, both the narrowbody order and the paintwork are on hold until post-merger. Seems logical to me. Thankfully the 777 conversion isn't on hold :D

Flew the old 744 yesterday from ORD to SFO. I enjoyed the old C seats on the upper deck -- for a 4 hour domestic flight I don't need to lie flat or have extensive AVOD.

The plane arrived at gate 97 where the signs said it was going to HKG, 6 hours delayed. I guess the scheduled bird went MX and they replaced it with this one. I'd hate to have paid $8K for a lie-flat seat and then have to sit in old C for 14 hours! OTOH, if I was waitlisted for C I would love the sudden addition of 20 more seats.

UALcargo shows the plane going HKG-ORD on Tuesday, and the SFO-ORD runs being covered by a 47C in the meantime.

Yup -- N194UA did, indeed, cover the very delayed UA869 Sunday evening. First international revenue excursion since being reclaimed from the desert.........

Maybe..... While it could be part of a domestic tag (or an error), acars indicates N194UA has recently been to BRU and GVA.

Sounds like an error to me. There's no scheduled 747-400 service on UA's BRU or GVA routes.

Looks like N194UA just wrapped up a visit to SIN.

You mean the records that show UA906 or 914, with a letter suffix? Those are domestic legs, not across the pond............

Hmm..... no letter code on the above referenced HKG flight either.

Never said it was scheduled. ;)

Again, I want to stress as mentioned above:

Im sitting at the gate in HKG, bound for SFO in the upper deck of a 747. Right next to me out the window at gate 48 is N194UA in old livery and bound for ORD.

I saw N122UA with all doors open at the LAX maintenance bay last night. Not sure what the deal is.
