Question: Flying DFW to IST later this week in business and have an 11 year old child in my party. The child is defaulted to "child" meal, and I can't seem to change it from the website. Does this mean the 11 year old has to eat the kid meal or can this be changed upon boarding the flight from a child meal to a regular adult meal? I called TK and they can't change in in their system either because it keeps reverting to the child selection after the change. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

I do believe that the child ticket may have been a cheaper price, but I didn't select that ticker, per se. I simply had to put her date of birth, and it automatically assigned that ticket to me. I did not have a choice. I am happy to pay more for the food, but have no idea how to make this change before the flight since I called TK and the person who answered didn't know how to change it either. Thanks.

Quick question about pre-ordering meals in J: If you pre-order your meals via the app, are they set in stone, especially for breakfast/2nd meal? Ex. Say if I preorder a rather healthy dish of poached eggs and spinach, but mid flight my gluttonous sweet tooth kicks in and I want to change my breakfast order to the crepes, if there’s extra, would the crew generally be amenable to this, or is the order set in perpetuity once I place it online?

Breakfast service is always inferior to lunch/dinner. No matter the airline. It is just not worth the same amount of money

But today I don't mind, I was looking forward to mantı in the lounge and I'll have proper dinner on the second leg, so I was happy to have a lighter first meal.

Istanbul - Amsterdam
Business dinner
I really didn't like the starter, it was more or less a compilation of stuff I dislike and I felt like quality was a bit off too.
I went for kebab as the main, which was delicious but also not too different from what I'm used to in TK economy. 🤔

Salad starter looks like an iftar version of a starter since is ramadan (they also serve a light salad with sea fruits or fish and hard boiled eggs in Morocco for breaking the fast, for example). Also the date points to iftar like service.

TK30 EWR-IST Early April ‘24
Overall surprisingly good catering ex-EWR. Seafood starter was absolutely delicious, soup was good but nothing too special, gnocchi main was simple but very tasty and really hit the spot (also note, this is one of those dishes where I could tell the “chef” made a difference with the broccoli and zucchini clearly cooked differently, perhaps steamed, compared to the rest of the elements of this dish…and it worked very well), desserts were great especially the decadent chocolate cake. Breakfast was a bit of a let down with the pancakes being somehow dry even with the vanilla sauce. But overall, not a bad meal at all!

TK68 IST-BKK Early April ‘24
Yet another amazing meal on TK with just a few complaints. The sour yoghurt and kofte soup was hands down the best soup course I’ve ever hand in the air, iiregardless of it being J or F. It had the perfect balance of flavors and complexity and the mini koftes were perfectly cooked. The cold starter plate was a bit of a letdown with the prawn, zucchini, and muhamarra being delicious but the octopus being absolutely way too rubbery for human consumption. I don’t think anyone on this flight that ordered it was able to even get a single bite in. The lamb main was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked to a medium-medium rare, and ranks up there with the best lamb dishes I’ve had in the air. Both desserts were decadent and very tasty too. Breakfast was also tasty and relatively light which I appreciated on this relatively short long haul. Only wish the fruit portion was larger and the European cheese and olive plate was smaller. But not a big deal. Overall, another great TK meal. Wine and drinks menu is the same as my previous post (#911), except oddly enough no raki was on the menu even though the flight was ex-IST.
