I would assume that paule123 is talking about the pre-clearance zone.

That said, the pre-clearance areas don't have GE kiosks but do have NEXUS kiosks which use the older CANPASS Air to clear both Canadian and US bound passengers.

I just registered for Global Entry. I didn't see any place for this in the application--I have a personal passport and an official passport (for use while on US government business). Can I "register" both passports for use under the program? I can't use my official passport for personal travel. And I'm not supposed to use by personal passport for official travel. (Although I'm not sure whether when reentering the US it matters.)
Can I register both at the interview or at some other time? He also told me that it didn't matter, from a CPB perspective, which passport I swiped upon reentry (i.e., even if I presented my official passport at the departure airport, I could use the personal passport at GE in the US).

The prior post has me thinking ...
Has anyone tried this scenario: - Self: GE - Spouse: GE - Child: Nada => Go to the head of the line showing the sticker and get processed manually. I guess the same deal for this one as well: - Self: GE - Spouse: Nada - Child: Nada I am thinking not but checking if anyone ever attempted. Note: I have followed this thread quite a bit but not religiously. If it is already posted in the previous 839 posts ... my most sincere apologies. If only you have GE, then your wife (and child, if present) cannot piggyback on you to front of line. However, if both you and wife have GE, then a young child (in my case 7 yo) could "probably" come with you and he didn't see any agent objecting to that. I took this to be primarily because kids aren't eligible, so if they hit 14, get them enrolled in GE (and hope they don't get immediately booted for youthful indiscretions). |

To close the loop on this. . . the answer is "yes." I brought both passports to my interview and the CBP agent swiped them both. He told me both were now registered as valid documents for the GE system and I could use either.

I'd love to add my Official to the list. Which airport GE location did they tell you this? Ciao, FH |

I specifically asked about this when I signed up and was told NO. I just called IAH CBP office and was still told NO, only one passport type could be used.

threat due to no confirmed interview
I applied March 13 and got conditional approval on March 30. My first shot at one of the hubs in DTW on June 7. GOES shows no appointments for May much less June even though when I called DTW direct they said it should show 60 days out.
About an hour ago, I get an email from dhs.gov saying I applied on Feb 7 and that unless I confirm an interview my application would be denied. I go through ATL a lot so called there and they set up a fake appointment in late May which should give me enough time to switch to DTW said the officer. Strange twist and I hope there are no more surprises along the way. |

You could make it part of a business or personal trip. Or MR! |
Do flight crew passports have the CBP stickers in them? I don't know if some of these non-GE locations will know what the sticker is for.

I used GE for the first time today at SEA. Was quick and easy and probably saved me 20-30 minutes from standing in the queue for an interview with a CBP agent. Worth it! ^

FInally got my first use of GE today arriving at LAX from SYD. Super easy and very fast. Fortunately my luggage came out fairly quickly as well so the customs line didn't have a chance to get too long.
I was sitting in the RCC within 30 minutes of deplaning. |
OK, I'm sold on joining the Global Entry program but need some thoughts/advice on my situation--to keep the process as smooth as possible:
US Citizen, living outside the USA (China) for years but go in and out of USA from various countries a few times a year. I should qualify as a low risk traveller without any background skeletons in the closet. 1) Should I apply using an address in China, or should I use my USA address (actually a family member's home). I do have documentation to support either address. And my US drivers license address matches the US address. Normally I'd just default to applying with the USA-based items to avoid rocking the boat, but my entry/exit pattern and flight purchase pattern over the last 10 years shows a pretty clear non-US resident status. 2) Timing of appointment, after receiving conditional approval--how long do I have to make the appointment before the window closes? I'm heading back to the USA in May though no confirmed booking yet and I have quite a bit of flexibility. But need to make flight arrangements in the next week or so. If I applied online through GOES now, it seems I can expect to hear back with a "conditional approval" in about 2-3 weeks. And then can hopefully make an appointment in whatever gateway I'll be arriving in. (I will be connecting to a small town airport but will ensure plenty of slack time to deal with an appointment). Or gamble on a walk-in if all the slots are full. 3) I presume there is no problem getting GE with a non-RFID passport? It's hard to plan the logistics of this when you're not in the US, so if there's something critical I'm missing, please clue me in! |

Just applied right now. What's the turnaround for the interview?
|
Approvals usually happen in the range of a week or two. YMMV.
You can schedule the interview as soon as you are conditionally approved (so in theory you can get the interview the day after you receive your approval, provided there is space at your location). |
