Which LAX terminal was this?

I used GE at LAX TBIT last month, and LAX T4 a few days ago. At both terminals there was a separate immigration lane for the kiosks, not closed off (unless I don' understand what you mean by "roped-off"). The customs exit at TBIT has one lane with a sign saying "Global Entry Exit" but others were in that lane as well. The customs exit at T4 was confusing. There seemed to be only one exit, with a serpentine roped line. In front was a sign saying "Global Entry Exit" and an arrow pointing to the right. I didn't know if the sign meant that GE people should walk to the right and join the serpentine exit line, or if there was another, not visible exit elsewhere. I didn't want to walk to the end and see, because if not the main exit line would be even longer. Is there any benefit to GE for customs exit at LAX T4?

Here's an illustration:

At TBIT, when the Customs Hall is packed and there are other people in the GE line, you just go outside the queue line and march to the front where the officer at the head of the line directing traffic is--no need to wait, and usually you can get the attention of a roving CBP person who can help part the queue and get you to the outside (nearest the exit wall side). For T4, I would assume you walk to the right of the queue, outside the queue but paralleling it, and go up to the front to hand your white slip in before exiting. I would think there is only one actual exit but that doesn't mean you have to wait in the queue.

Interestingly enough I just saw that if you have an AMEX Platinum card, they will credit back the GE fee effectively making it free to apply. Details here

I am sorry if I have not read the whole thread but I have a quick question. I have a sealed-up Nevada misdemeanor conviction. Does anyone happen to know if that disqualifies me from the GE Program?
Thank you for your answers.

I didn't see any way to do this last week, but I can look some more when I do LHR-LAX on AA again next week.

Hello greglvnv,

If you read my post about an arrest that ended in a dismissal possibly being a disqualifying factor (That is not stated on the www.globalentry.gov website, but as you can see, it is mentioned in the Federal Register publication), I would have to say that a conviction, even a sealed one (because law enforcement can still have access to sealed records, potential employers cannot) is definately a disqualifying factor, since it is specifically mentioned on www.globalentry.gov as a reason for ineligibility. However, some states allow certain cases to be expunged, meaning that it is simply not sealed, but that all records relating to the case are destroyed. This is only available if the case meets a certain criteria, which varies from state to state, and as I said, only some states allow this at all. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this:
http://www.globalentry.gov/terminalmaps.html

It seems fairly new to the webpage.
Click on the airport and they have pretty good graphics showing the GE kiosk locations at all the major airports.
Some of them have better graphics than the actual airport website.

I just saw that today. LAX Terminal 2 it specifically says something about after baggage, walk to the front to find the Global Entry line. So we know it's there even if you view is blocked by the 200 other people off your flight.

Very cool. Seems like they're really putting a lot of effort into the GE program. Thanks for posting.

Yes, a few posts back linked to it, specifically for LAX T4, and discussed how it says "go to the exit queue."

@ T2, It's there...

The line to get out after getting your luggage runs perpendicular to the entrance to the Global Entry Exit. There is a sign that says Global Entry Exit, but two of those "velvet ropes" without the velvet ( :) ) are pushed together so that the people who are standing in line don't just queue up in our line. Just push the stanchions apart and walk up to the red line and wait to be acknowledged by the CPB officer and you're next in line. The line for everyone else meets at that spot separated by a rope, so you'll get bewildered looks from those that have been standing in line for an hour when you "cut" the line.

Has anyone been to the Global Entry registration office in PHL? I just received a new passport, and need to pick up a new sticker. When I look at the location map (http://www.globalentry.gov/pdfs/PHL-...ent-Center.pdf), it appears that the office is between passport control and customs there. That can't actually be the case, right?

I usually travel on a U.S. diplomatic passport and it's my understanding that USG travelers are not permitted to use the Diplomatic lane when returning to the U.S. Those lines are intended for non-U.S. diplomats arriving the U.S. Really, USG travelers aren't entitled to any special benefits when returning to the U.S. and there aren't any immunities and exemptions that I know of. When I enter other countries on my diplomatic passport, I do use diplomatic passport holder lanes when they're avaiable.

That does makes sense.

I did my entry interview at PHL. It is a little hard to describe, but fairly easy to find. In the public waiting area of the international terminal (A), there is a call box to use. Push the button and when they answer, let them know you are there for Global Entry Program.

They will buzz you into the international arrivals area, where their office is located. The diagram on the link shows where their office is located, not the public area that you go into to gain access.

Hope this helps. GE is a great program.

one point of GE is to avoid lines.

Ciao,
FH

To add to this, on my last usage of GE at IAD there was no open booth near the kiosks and I got an X. I was told by a passing by CBP officer to go to the front of the Crew lane and "They'll want to kill you, but you paid for it."

Indeed the FAs from my flight (including the one that asked if I was crew when I was walking towards the GE kiosk, inside the Crew lane, and looked at me like I was crazy when I told him about GE) were not amused that I got to walk past them all. Waved my X receipt to the officer and he waved me forward, didn't even mention the 30+ crew that I walked by.
