Have my global entry interview tomorrow, what's the normal turnaround time on getting the card? Do they hand you the card after the interview or is it mailed to you? I'm hoping to have it before a flight to europe next month.

As stated, no card. It's tied to your passport, and is active in hours after your interview. There's also a sticker put on your passport, but that's just to make it easy to show the CBP agent that you're a GE member.

Wow! What a great reply - thanks so much for your detailed directions. That will make things a lot easier.

American express now waives the $100 fee so signed up yesterday, says 'pending review' still, hoping its approved fast as I'm in ATL on the 21st, perfect timing to do the interview.

I'll echo all the great things said. Used it for the 2nd time last night in ATL and I was on the train to my connecting flight 15 minutes after getting off the plane. Now it was 9pm so no TSA wait and probably not typical.

Previous time was T2 at LAX that went smoothly before.

Can I have back all those hours I wasted in like before I got GE :)

Despite the idiots at TSA pulling me for a "random" secondary at the FIS checkpoint at JFK (second secondary of the day), GE saved me enough time that I was able to change to an earlier flight for the last leg of my trip, saving me 4 hours in the airport. It was 40 minutes from arrival on the international leg to the departure gate of the domestic leg, 20+ minutes of that was TSA, and about 10 minutes of that was working with an agent to rebook the flight.

GE Rocks.

I signed up this weekend, conditional approval went through today.

Will 12 year-old DUI render someone ineligible for GE?

Hi all,

I searched the thread, but couldn't really find a good, concrete answer to this question.

In 1999, my wife (a US citizen), was arrested for a misdemeanor DUI, and pleaded "no contest" to the charge. I don't know if this is considered a "conviction" or not. Obviously, the GE eligibilty requirements plainly state that anyone convicted of a crime would be ineligible. My question is, how strict are they with this? Has anyone successfully been admitted into GE with such a misdemeanor conviction on their record?

Thanks!

It depends on what the disposition of the case was. If she pleaded "no contest" that means she neither admitted nor disputed the charge, but some kind of a verdict must have been rendered by the court. I would suggest that she find out from the court records what that disposition (e.g. guilty, not guilty = case dismissed, declined to prosecute etc.) on her case was.

Just to add, right now, turnaround is super quick. I signed up on 4/6, I was conditionally approved on 4/11, and I scheduled my interview for 4/15 (b/c I was out of town) and I was approved later in the day. So in reality, I could have been approved in under a week had I been in town and able to schedule an interview sooner. I did it at IAH, btw.

I know of people who where in similar situations who got accepted into the GE program. By doing nothing, your wife is excluding herself. One important tip - have her not lie in the interview. They have access to all kinds of information. Trust is built by telling the truth regardless of the past event. GE = trusted traveler program.

Good luck !

global entry

My wife and I signed up 2 years ago, and are very satisfied with Global Entry. DFW not only has GE but continues to market it heavily during the immigration process with their volunteer retiree corps (the ones with the goofy hats and vests). I'm surprised you have seen them.

MCO Airside 3

Are there any Global Entry kiosks at airside 3 where Aer Lingus has gates for entry into USA? Airsides 1 and 4 both have them. Please let me know
