The Washington DC enrollment center in the Reagan building is outstanding! Incredibly friendly CBP officers and they "love" walk-ins.

Mrs. returned home last night at Terminal 1, JFK. She said huge line for US citizens, would have waited at least 1 hr. Even a short que at the kiosks...but she made it through in 10 minutes!

Wish me luck, I am about to apply and state "no" but mention that I have had speeding tickets (albeit in over 5 yrs, the only one was 38 in a 25.)

Well I decided to take the plunge. It only took me about 15 min do to the online application.

Flying on US, I've never really had any long waits coming back into the U.S. Actually the last few times I've come back through CLT and pretty much walked right up to the agents, who were waiting for us.

But I do remember flying back on UA into IAD a few years ag:eek:.... Memories of that were what prompted me to do this today.

I wish there was a way for U.S. citizens to get quick entry into the U.K.

Filled out the app on Thursday, the day the govt reopened. Friday got my conditional approval and Sunday had my interview. All done, waiting for card to show up.

Speed up the approval time for UK citizens and we might let you in using your e-passport. ;) Or, just wait till April 2014.

This has often been my experience. In the past 2 months, I have used my GE at LAX and MSP. In both cases, multiple international flights arriving, line for US citizens would have been at least an hour wait. In both cases, I was through the GE line, claimed and re-checked my bags, cleared security back into the respective terminals and sitting in the Sky Club in 30 minutes from plane to lounge.

I arrive into MSP on some pretty busy flights. Even without GE and coming in from peak-summer international trips there, I've never experienced a 1+ hour waiting time there. And none of my area relatives or friends who are frequent travelers have ever personally experienced such a thing at MSP. IAD, however, is a different beast.

The lines at JFK can look pretty deceptive. Even short lines can look pretty deceptive -- as when I have come off some off-peak international flights into BOS and a short-line took nearly 40 minutes when I would have guessed it would have taken about 10-15 minutes at most.

There is: buying some EU country's residence package that enables acquisition of EU citizenship with a few weeks vacation time over a couple of years. I can't remember if the USG had complained about Portugal or Spain doing that, but it is one of these two countries, at the very least, that are allowing for such.

For some lines of work, it may not be an ideal pursuit; however, for most, if you have the money, there is now a pretty good way to do so without disrupting life in the US as a US citizen to do so.

I can tell you the day that we arrived, I zipped through the GE line but my work colleagues I was travelling with stayed in the regular customs line. It took them 1:35 minutes from plane to Sky Club, it took me about 30 minutes from plane to Sky Club.

LAX and JFK are probably are the best hubs to have GE privilige while arriving at.

This is rather annoying.

My GE application was tentatively approved within about a day. But looking at the calendar to schedule appointments, there's exactly 1 available in October (tomorrow, at 10:20am doesn't work for me), then 1 available in all of November (the day after Thanksgiving at noon, which I grabbed).

I remember seeing something that the interview needed to be within 30 days of the approval, which this will definitely not be.

How the heck can they have 1 open appointment per month? And if it is that busy, then why don't they bring in more people to help with processing? Or perhaps open another office, aside from the PHX Airport :confused: :td:

You're fine. The interview needs to be scheduled within 30 days, but does not need to occur within 30 days.

I just noticed that on the letter.

But it still begs the question, why is the office only open from 10am to 3pm, with at best 1 available appointment per month? And I just grabbed the single one left for Nov, so the next person is going into Dec.
