So what do I do when I have something to declare??? Also as global entry foreigner with esta I have usually say why I'm coming and pick WB or WT...
Remember when you are caught making wrong declarations by customs you are in deep doo doo.

You still have to present the form to a Customs Officer upon leaving; I would presume that it is then that you would make a declaration. Perhaps there is a different process when the kiosk reads a foreign passport, but I can't speak to it.

No customs forms any more when returning to US?
Our airports will be moving towards a "simplified Primary". Facial recognition, less passport checks, etc With this comes a lack of typical baggage checkpoints. We're moving more towards targeting and on foot teams in the baggage carousels. This means no more declarations, sorta.

That is inaccurate. According to our resident CBP officer and members' experiences, the CBP is transitioning away from paper customs declaration forms. Please refer to the following thread and the quoted post:

Experienced this on arrival to DFW yesterday...
GE kiosk displayed a message that the procedure had changed, touch the screen to begin. It started by taking a picture...then went into a wait mode for about a minute to a minute and a half, before printing out a receipt. I looked at the receipt and was surprised to see my name, passport number and flight details...because I never presented my passport to scan, and was never asked for fingerprints.
I thought maybe I was jet lagged and didn’t realize that I had done those things without thinking, but others in the queue were commenting about a similar process.
Presenting the receipt, I was asked if I had anything to declare.

Got the new system/ kiosks at IAH a few days ago. Caught off guard that I only had to take a pic like others on this thread.
My colleague on a non-US passport with a work visa (but with global entry) also had the same experience. Except my colleague had two pages print out (first page was the same; second page had the visa info on it).

Just went through one of these machines in MIA yesterday. I tapped the screen, it took a photo of me, and then spit out a receipt. No scanning passport or any questions.
I took the receipt to the agent and he looked at the receipt, looked at my passport, asked if I had anything to declare, then told me "have a nice day".
I wonder if they upload the passenger manifest for incoming flights for people with Global Entry, then compare your photo to the photo they originally took when you applied for GE.

Used GE facial recognition kiosk at MCO yesterday (fast and efficient), but it came to a standstill as GE folks had to exit via the line with mobile passports, flight crew, and some other category (Line A). Also used the passport gates in LGW which was a massive time save.

This is exactly what happened to me this past Thursday. I was a little hesitate as the receipt came out before I scanned my fingerprints and passport. One the agent said have a nice day, I was like that women in the IKEA commercial when she sees her receipt with the lower prices than expected. "Start the car!! Start the car!!!" as I was walking a little faster than usual.... LOL

Seems like we now have to see an agent who will ask questions with the facial recognition system. Happened at JFK T7 and there was no agent at the GE booth so we had to wait until an agent was free at the normal booths. At JFK T8 there is an agent who asks questions and then confirms business/holiday and stamps the passport. The speed improvement from the facial recognition is negated by the queue/quiz.

argh. The stamp means less space in my passport, the quiz is pointless too. (Because the agent won't be able to enter WB or WT in the system and will just write it on the stamp in the passport.

Depending on your purpose of travelling to the US the CBP grants visitors under the visa waiver programme the status WB or WT on their I94. It is what it is. I would be rather annoyed when travelling on work in the US to be given WT status by default when using the GE kiosk as this implies that I'm misrepresenting my purpose of visiting the US to the CBP or immigration authorities. Occasionally you do encounter some rather nasty CBP agents who look at your history of past visits in the system and ask probing questions for whatever reason.

Folks,
While some natural deviation from the subject of the thread is obviously acceptable, please let's keep the focus of the discussion on the topic of this thread, that is the Global Entry facial recognition pilot program.
If you wish to continue discussing why it is a concern of the CBP whether the purpose of a trip is business or pleasure, please a new thread in the Policy Debate forum.
Thank you,
