G o e s help

I received the letter stating my card was mailed. NEVER RECEIVED.

Can't request replacement because never activated. Can't reapply because already in system. Called local (Miami) office, sorry but we can't help.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

Thanks

FWIW, every time I tried to show a Global Entry card entering the USA returning from a Cruise, I was told "I don't want to see that, where is your passport?"

Probably could have argued, but I think the better point is that the card is basically pointless.

It's not meant to be a passport card. It does work as a SENTRI card for our southern border though. You have to register your vehicle if you choose but it works fine for the pedestrian crossing.

It actually is pointless. A GE card isn't a passport booklet or a passport card. As a USN, if you can't produce a passport, you still can't be denied entry. Will just take a good long while and possibly be quite unpleasant.

The GE card is equivalent to a passport card when entering the U.S. by land or sea. A passport book is not necessary.

Did you activate your Global Entry card?

Perhaps I missed this along the way, but I never activated my Global Entry card and I learnt of the need for activation when I was reading about using NEXUS/SENTRI lanes.

I was also one of the first to receive a card (I was already a GE member) and I don't recall seeing anything about activating the card when I received it.

I'm curious: has everyone activated their cards?

I was well beyond 30 days but I was still able to activate my card at the link provided in the GE FAQ:

How do I activate my Global Entry card prior to use at NEXUS/SENTRI lanes?
A: Click here to activate your card within 30 days of receipt or you will be unable to use your card at the Trusted Traveler lanes. Follow the "Activate Membership Card" link and enter information from the back of your card. Further instructions can be found here.

I've activated mine.

Well, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, no one yet has said, "Oh, you need to activate it?".

I'll bet someone has said that when they reach the land entry and try to use it.

Interesting, I've tried to do the same at YYC and was ordered back into the regular line. Might need to try again.

As a bonus, I discovered at YUL that I can use the Global Entry card to use the special security fast track lane marked NEXUS when flying Canada->Europe. No problems at all.

The GE card (along with the NEXUS, SENTRI and FAST cards) are WHTI compliant documents, which means they are to be honored at all US land and sea ports of entry. The passport book is only necessary for entry via air.

Thanks for the reminder! Got mine several month's ago and have been using the number for TSA pre-check only.

Due to go to GCM in November and would've been quite a surprise when coming back thru ATL when my Global Entry card wouldn't work.

I was not aware I had to activate mine.

And it's way past 30 days.
