I use GE all the time at ORD. They don't have any dedicated GE lanes to customs and the customs people often demand your passport, despite having the photo receipt.

Was that at immigration or on exit (customs)? I usually enter the US at ORD multiple times a year and rarely have anyone ask for passport immediately after leaving the kiosk. Showing the receipt usually works. I have been asked to show my passport on exit with baggage (maybe as much as 50% of the time).

Exclamation DTW strange procedure

Upon arriving into DTW on DL, initially the GE process seemed familiar: walk farther to a row of GE kiosks which worked as expected. Then a both where a CBP official collected my GE receipt and asked me a few questions about what I was bringing back. When I questioned his retention of my receipt from the kiosk, he said that everyone exits after baggage claim through the same line, with some being pulled aside for customs inspections. Apparently having GE doesn't affect the chances of being subjected to random secondary inspections because the personnel at the customs exit booths have no way of knowing whether someone has GE or not.

Fortunately, my bags can out early enough that I avoided a bad line to exit, but I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that GE procedures at DTW have been modified in this way. Let's hope that it doesn't spread.

At JFK (T8 AA), after you get your GE receipt, you proceed to baggage p/u (if you have any); there are generally 2 customs lines (if several flights have just arrived, the lines can be long), BUT, there is a special by-pass lane for GE--unless you are singled out for "extra" inspection, you hand in your GE receipt and exit. Sometimes, they may ask to see your pp--particularly, if all the receipt shows is the top of your head (normal for me),

This is what I consider to be the normal GE process. It's always been this way before at DTW as well as other airports such as LAX, MSP, ATL, JFK, ORD, etc.

On my last couple of trips I arrived at SEA and ATL. Both of them had the automated kiosks for all passengers and in both cases I was off the plane and in the lounge within 15-20 minutes.

I will say that a year ago I had two lengthy waits at IAD to see an agent but things may have changed there since. That said, as it's merely $100 even if all airports had situations like I described at SEA and ATL I'd hardly call it "pointless"

Last week landed at IAD, flew BA 217 (LHR-IAD) which is an A380. It took us 20 minutes from exiting the plane to sitting in my car in Daily Garage 1.

Yes, GE is still worth it.

There is a short line in SFO Terminal A about 50% of the time (I seldom arrived in Terminal G). When I joined GE, there were two machines and they were usually idling. These machines had difficulty reading my fingerprint. Now they can ready my fingerprint without problem, there is sometimes a line even with four machines.

It is difficult to say how much time I can save with GE as there are usually few passengers in the US Citizens lines when I arrive, but I have never had my luggage checked since I joined GE (perhaps just my luck).

Definitely worth it at IAH. On my last INTL flight into IAH on a Sunday afternoon, the lines waiting to get through customs were wrapped around the baggage hall.

LAX have both automated kiosks as well as GE kiosks. Lines at custom can be very long. Luckily, GE dedicated line saved me good 20 minutes.

Really? Interesting. Mental note to self: don't fly through SFO.

There are times GE kiosks don't save you much time. But I have recently it does reduce the line through customs, especially in situations where there is only one officer checking blue cards. GE has a special entrance that let's you 'cut in line'.

>60% of my SFO arrival is CX872 in Terminal A. CX872 is the only flight most of the time, although occasionally there can be one or two flights arriving about the same time.

I am not sure about Terminal G. I arrived in Terminal G less often, but it seems more crowded.

IMHO, I would avoid LAX, not SFO...

LAX can be a tough one, especially Tom Bradley International Terminal. And, depends on time of a day, and flights arrival scheduling, I witnessed very long queue in the afternoon and rather short line usually by 11 o'clock ....

Luckily, GE saved me valuable time.

MIA cane be a real mixed bag especially the AA Terminal where while they have a dedicated Global Entry Customs exit line, the CBP Employee still question you and that can take a bit especially if he/she decides that the person they are speaking with is a potential bad Apple.

Three times I have unfortunately been labeled a bad Apple and then after an X-ray or the last time a physical hand search of my luggage I am determined to be a good Apple and free to go, still probably faster than without Global Entry but longer than other airports.

The odd part is that at DFW/IAH/JFK/EWR/LAX/MCO I am never questioned nor searched, just MIA.
