Upon arriving into DTW on DL, initially the GE process seemed familiar: walk farther to a row of GE kiosks which worked as expected. Then a both where a CBP official collected my GE receipt and asked me a few questions about what I was bringing back. When I questioned his retention of my receipt from the kiosk, he said that everyone exits after baggage claim through the same line, with some being pulled aside for customs inspections. Apparently having GE doesn't affect the chances of being subjected to random secondary inspections because the personnel at the customs exit booths have no way of knowing whether someone has GE or not.

Fortunately, my bags can out early enough that I avoided a bad line to exit, but I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that GE procedures at DTW have been modified in this way. Let's hope that it doesn't spread.
