Reported in about a week ago when I got my renewal approved. Got my new card today, so full timeline:
9/22/2021: Applied for NEXUS renewal. Second renewal, 10 year NEXUS member. Like the last time, I renewed early, my old card didn't expire until September 2022. 10/22/2021: Received full approval notification. No interview was required 10/29/2021: New NEXUS card received. |
Applied some time in March 2021, still pending review. Current expiration is 2/2022.

I have 2 renewal appoints (wife and I) and 1 new applicant appointment for my child at Fort Eerie on December 5th. Are they just waiting to tell me it is cancelled closer to the date or are they actually taking the appointments that are booked?

They will wait until about a week before your appointment before canceling. I have scheduled Ft. Erie twice and that was the usual timeframe for cancelation notice. I have one again scheduled there for Dec 6 and am hoping interviews resume with the reopening of the US border on Nov 8.

I haven't been able to book an appointment at any location or remotely for 18 months... I'm shocked that you were able to even book one

Expiration dates
Can someone confirm to me an interview/expiration question? My 24 months is up this December 10th. I had conditional approval before COVID but was going to be in Ottawa in May 2020 and that all went down the tubes and I lost my chance at my interview. I now have just under 1 month before my 24 months is up, but with the holidays I'm having a hard time securing time off to visit an office before 12/10. If I make an appt for after 12/10 will it still hold??
That's basically what this statement is saying on my account, correct? Schedule your appointment as soon as possible. If you do not select an appointment date by Friday, December 10, 2021, your application will be deleted from the system. You will be required to resubmit your application and pay the application fee again. |

My NEXUS expires in September 2022, which may be the time that we'd like to have these benefits on a trip. My wife's expires April 2023, and if an interview is called for, it might be nice to have it together. We're a little over an hour from the Canadian border, and we'd hope not to have the interview in the dead of winter. |

Renewal of Lapsed Membership Experience
Hello!
I've been following the forum for years and followed very closely throughout 2020 since my NEXUS pass was slated to expire in 2020. Which it did and I forgot to submit the renewal paperwork so it lapsed. Womp womp. HOWEVER. I did get the paperwork in December of last year (it expired in November), and played the waiting game like everyone else. I was FINALLY able to schedule an appointment for earlier this week. I thought I'd share my experience if you are in the same boat. It was STILL very easy, since I had the membership before. Although I did have to go and interview again and provide fingerprints, it was way faster because I had the membership prior. My approval when I submitted my application back in December 2020 was fast as well; it only took a week for the conditional approval to come through. The interview was basically "you've had this before, do you still understand the rules and regulations?", and I also had to provide some updates re: addresses and whatnot (I mean it had been over a year since I had applied for my 'renewal'). I live about 1.5 hours from the center; I was in and out in maybe 30 minutes. Easy. This was at the Blaine, WA enrollment centre. I've seen a few people in a similar boat here, so I thought I'd share my experience! If you let your pass lapse by accident like I did, it should still be a bit quicker than a new, never-before enrolled applicant. Although to be fair it had only been about 3 weeks between the time it expired and the time I got the app in. Unsure if that helped but you never know. Stats: -Originally enrolled 2015 -Exp: November 2020 -Sent in app: December 2020 -Conditional Approval: Dec 2020 -Actual interview date: December 1, 2021 -Approval that day Hope that helps! |
Quick question for folks who renewed after an interview: what happens to the expired card at the interview? Did they take it away? Did you use Nexus lanes right after getting approved or you were asked to wait for the new card to arrive?
Thank you! |
